The GT350 manifold is a direct swap on a gen 2. The IMRC plug in and work. The stock 80 mm throttle body works with an adapter, I like the one from VMP.

The reason AM and others will say it needs a tune is because it makes power above what the gen 2 RPM limiter is set to. So to get the most out of it the RPM limiter needs to be raised. This can wait till you get all the other parts installed. Then your tuner will raise the limit.

The FRPP 3 tune is a nice kit.
So you’re saying instead of buying the 87mm throttle body from the GT350 I can buy just the adaptor from VMP and use my stock Throttle body? Which one would be the best as a performance standpoint?

You could just run the stock 80 mm for now until you get the coin for a 90 mm

Yes, exactly. But keep in mind, an 87 mm costs ~180, whereas a 90 mm is ~500+ and the 87 doesn't need an adapter, but the 90 does. But the 87 requires a tune to run right, the 90 doesn't.

By the time you buy a 90 mm tb, the adapter, the gt350 manifold, a cai kit and a tune you've spent 1800 or more and at that point you could just bought the stage 3 kit.

You can also send your factory tb to Soler Performance to be ported. That’s what I did with my 87MM Bullitt tb. It’s now ported to 91MM.

While a tb may not be a huge performance increase by itself, I believe that once everything else has been maximized like an exhaust, CAI and a tune (when you get around to it), the whole combination will perform at its best.

I did not have to retune with my factory ported Bullitt tb, but had I done so, I believe I might have seen a slight increase in performance.

I didn't notice any increase in airflow with the 87. But I do not have headers or cams.

So if I were to get an 18 manifold and an CAI to start with would I have to tune it immediately? Or can you run just the manifold and CAI without a tune for now?
With the 2018 manifold you need bigger injectors and a tune as well

If you can swing it, you should go with the Soler tb. I’m very happy with mine.
The linked solar TB will still need an adapter to use with a 350 manifold.
