So, I'm at about 2,500 miles and figured I should check the oil level. I can't get to the dipstick without removing the engine cover. However, given my non-mechanically-inclined nature, I couldn't figure out how to remove it.

It seems stuck on there pretty tightly. Is there a trick to popping it off without breaking something?

Pop up the 2 circle shaped covers on each side and underneath are 2 nuts that you need to remove, then pull up. You shouldn’t have to take it off to check your oil if you have a performance pack it’s a little tight but doable.

Here’s a video to help explain how to take the cover off.

Here’s a vid on how to check the oil with the cover on.

Hope these help.

Actually, thanks for the responses, but I actually found the dipstick when I was looking closer at the cover. Don't need to remove it to check, there's JUST enough space.

And, I'm low, so I'm glad I checked. Thanks again!

Should just remove the cover regardless and leave it off permanently. Much nicer to see the manifold then the plastic cover.

If you remove the cover and the sound tube it makes it much easier to pull the dipstick.

My vote was to leave the cover and remove the sound tube. I tried it without the cover too, but didn't like the extra injector noise i convinced myself i was hearing. Was going for as quiet as possible on quiet mode for my wife's sake, so extra injector noise seemed counterintuitive after removing the tube, so why risk it?

Also, I'd like to add the sound tube being out of the way of the dipstick was a nice bonus. Makes checking the oil after oil changes at the dealership much easier on me. It also fixes the look of the cover a bit to my eye, making the whole engine bay feel more balanced.đź‘Ť

The Gen 2/3 Cover is just disappointing. They should have stuck with the Gen 1.
