I hear a lot of engine failures in gen3?What's your mileage? What engine problems have you had?
I have a 2017 Mustang 5.0 Mileage 92,000 km, there were no problems with the engine or the car.

Huh? Where? Not here. Stop spreading false information.
Hello; I guess the comment hinges on what is a lot. There were recently two threads on this site about III engine problems which I know of. I get the argument on either side of the question since there is not a simple way to get the data.
Also depends if things such as oil consumption are lumped into the mix of engine problems.

I may have a wrong take on why the op started this thread. My take is the OP wants a Mustang and is concerned about buying someone else's problems.

You're asking on a forum where everyone comes when they have a problem. Every sports car ever made has problems. Every single one. Anything anybody says is anecdotal. There is nothing, not one single thing, to be gained from your question. Failures happen to some small percentage, take your chances and don't buy a sports car you can't afford to fix.

Anecdotal refers to information, claims, or evidence based on personal accounts, individual stories, or casual observations rather than systematic research, statistical data, or scientific testing

No you haven’t. Maybe a few here and there for various reasons, but by no means are there “a lot” of Gen 3 coyote failures. As far as performance engines go, the coyote is about as reliable as it gets. In addition to the Mustang, they’re also in the F-150. Different tune than the Mustang, but basically still the same engine.

Probably mostly depends on how you plan to modify and drive it- most of the engine failures I've seen in this forum had power adders and were beat on quite a bit. Stay stock mostly, use it as a daily and for occasional responsible spirited driving and any gen Mustang will be pretty reliable.

Have had a '10, '13, '15, '18, '21 and '24, all GT Premiums. Never had a problem with any of them. They all "Rocked"! Still have the '18 because of the color, Royal Crimson. And the '24 RTR Spec 2, Race Red.

How many were boosted? Gen 3s don't fail stock. They don't even fail boosted with good tuning and gas.

DI is completely reliable on these cars. One guy chimes in everytime saying its a weak point but I've yet to see a single gen 3 have a DI issue.

Gen 2 guys will say its better, Gen 3 guys will say the same. They coyote is a reliable engine regardless if you aren't stupid with it.

I purchased a 2020 GT PP1 car with about 9400 miles on it. One owner prior to me. That owner had installed a Ford Racing ProCal 4 Calibration With Cold Air Intake And Throttle Body, so it wasn't quite stock, but still warrantied through Ford. Dealership did an oil change just prior to me taking ownership. I checked the oil level after driving it a couple thousand miles, and found it to be about a quart and a half low. Topped it off and drove another 1000 miles and found it low again. Took it into the dealership and they did an oil changed and electro marked the dipstick. Took it back in 800 miles later and they found it a quart low so they bore scoped the cylinders and found scarring. They replaced the motor under warranty. I got it back, checked for any more oil consumption issues at about 1500 miles on the new engine and found all was well. Immediately boosted it and have been completely fine boosted for about 14000 miles since then. Not sure if this was a one off issue or what. Not at all knocking the gen 3 motor. I think its a great design, but clearly I got a motor with some issues so it can happen, just like it can appen from any other manufacturer.

No, you haven't. You may have seen a few here and there, all of which were either boosted, or poorly tuned, or both. Far from "a lot".
A stock Coyote that's properly maintained and not abused will outlive the rest of the car.
