Here are mine after a 2 minute soak and some vigorous shaking in CLR. As you can see, the soak ate off almost all of the rust, but it also had an effect on the color of them too. Not sure if they can be hit with some high gloss black paint and call it a day or what. I’m going to look into this a little more. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that CLR will work.

Update: I sprayed three light coats of paint on each lug nut. I’ll let them cure for 2 or more days and then see how they turned out. If nothing else, it at least buys me time to try and locate better options.

Soaking in a glass of Coke a Cola will also remove rust.

Last weekend attended the SCMC spring cruise in at Pro Dyno in Ft. Mill SC. The ‘67 is probably my favorite.

That’s good to know. Thanks! I’ll definitely try that trick in the future.
Makes you really want to go out and drink a Coca Cola doesn’t it 🤭.

I haven’t tried that trick in years. I know back in the day it worked on chrome bumpers. Curious if it still works today (I don’t think the formula has changed so it should)

Had this Ford GT500 rear splash guard kit sitting in the garage for close to 6 months mine vehicle is a 2022 GT Convertible … finally had time to install this. Slight modification needed but it was a simple trimming of the bottom bracket(which the GT rear bottom bumper was slightly different from a GT500 rear) of the splash guard . Took me about 1hr to mount both sides

It's due to the phosphoric acid in the Coke. Phosphoric acid dissolves rust. Better yet is to buy some tri-phosphate and make a stronger solution. 💪

Aluminum foil and coke worked great on chrome bumpers. We also used to use it if you had oil on your windshield. Cut right through it. To your point, makes you wonder what it does to your insides!

I used to get heartburn from drinking jack and coke. After some trial and error, I discovered it was from the coke lol.

GT500 diffuser install. Got some mufflers to have thrown on too courtesy of @TEN43ME once I can get to the exhaust shop.
All started with these Borla carbon fiber tips looking absolutely terrible from driving this thing in all the weather.
