Hey all! Just wanted to ask folks across the USA what their local Ford dealer charges for an oil change—the package is sometimes called “The Works.” I was shocked by how much my local Ford dealer is now charging for this.

When I first bought my 2013 S197 Mustang GT in 2012 I recall it being 6 or 7 quarts for $39.99 (perhaps this was a promotional price but I always had a coupon). By the time I bought my new S550 Mustang GT w/performance pack a few years later, it took about 8 quarts, and the price ran about $69.99 for “The Works.” I still found this to be a fair price.

Well, today I went to the same local Ford dealership I’ve been going to for more than a decade for an oil change and I was charged $140 for 8 quarts of Motorcraft semi-synthetic and a Motorcraft oil filter. I asked why the price was double and I was told simply “new management.” Fortunately I had enough Ford Pass points to get the oil change for free today but I won’t be going back.

Curious of your experiences…

I was charged $140 for 8 quarts of Motorcraft semi-synthetic and a Motorcraft oil filter.
Here, $108 semi-synthetic, $135 synthetic, for "The Works" (oil change, tire rotation and inspection).

Oil and filter change only: $53.

But for either pricing, they do not quantify the number of quarts, be it 4, 8 or 10.

5K SERVICE
Replace Engine Oil and Filter = $52.90
Multi Point Inspection = free
Tire Rotation = $24.95
Add MOC Advanced Engine Treatment = $30.64
Semi Synthetic Package Total: $108.49
Synthetic Package Total: $135.49
Savings of $19.38

In March, I had an oil change at Riata Ford (just east of Austin, TX). Motorcraft synth blend, 10 quarts and a Motorcraft oil filter (I hope). It was about $85, which I thought was a lot until I checked the current pricing on Motorcraft oil. Even synth blend is expensive now.

The days I remember of $14.99 oil changes are gone.

IIRC it was ~€500 last time I asked. Needless to say, they won't be seeing me in there anytime soon (oil must be made of unobtanium or something 🤷‍♂️ )

Yeah, fook that. Not even if I was a millionaire.. cause that's how you un-millionaire yourself, and replace it with someone else.

I think your car changed not the market lol. I still see ads for $15 oil changes but I don’t drive a beater anymore and would never put that garbage in my car

$25/5qt jugs of 5w30 synth from Costco. x2
13-17 for a quality filter (I bought a case of FP filters way back)
$30 to the local gas station guy - who I've known forever and services Merc, Bmw, and because it's mine, the Audi and *retch* Fords.

So just shy of $100.

I don't have all day to wait around for dealer grease monkeys to maybe get around to doing it when it suits their fancy.

For me, 2020 EB, company car that I agreed to maintain (but company pays for supplies) it costs me under $50 for 6 qts of Mobile 1 full synthetic 5-30 & filter. The only crappy thing is I generally have to change the oil every 2.5-3 months. I drive 25k+ miles a year. I change the oil about every 5k miles.
