Is it bad? Well, the 1LE didn't lose 230lbs and the SS is missing a lot of metal that the 1LE and ZL1 have. I know 3670lbs was needed in order to shut thePill up but the cost to the SS wasn't worth it.
I believe the 230lb weight loss was over the previous gen 1le (similarly equipped). Not sure if the car actually lost the weight or not. I don't believe that was a 230lb weight loss vs the 1SS. Is that the only thing you are basing the added structure off of or have you seen the added structure in photos?

I suppose it could be another 11s all day type of screw up but I think the ZL1 weight loss was framed in the same way (6th gen vs 5th gen).

x2! I get the brand loyalty thing, but I'm a car guy first! I watched the HPE vid where John Hennessy conducts a roll race between the ZL1 & ZO6 Corvette. Damn that black ZL1 looks menacing AND it's damn near as fast as the vette.

Say what you want to about the crappy interior and terrible visibility - if you are shopping for performance - the 2017 ZL1 "performs".

I am more interested in how it performs on a road course (which I assume it will do quite well). I do agree the ZL1 is quite aggressive looking and that GM did it right.

Whatever the case may be however, the supercharged LT4 (whether it is in a Z06 or a ZL1 and whether it is mated to a manual or the 8 speed auto) becomes very unimpressive after 100 MPH. Take them to 150 MPH and you have Hellcats and 2013-2014 GT500's posting quicker times.

I think that there will be more owners of the ZL1 that are looking for a run in Mexico or a roll-race vice taking them to the road course regularly...who knows . If this thing responds well to mods it will be a Beast on the streets. Just great to have so many options these days at our disposal for quick/fast American cars with (((V8s))) stuck between the fenders

The problem is they aren't getting quicker though. A 2013 GT500 shouldn't beat a 2017 ZL1 or Z06 in a roll race, yet it does.

Whoa now. A c6 z06 was faster from a roll then the 13-14 gt500s. I highly doubt it lost mph. If im recalling right people have done the same in the c7
The c6 z06 is a 10 second car in the hands of great drivers. A 130-132 is faster then 125-127. There is no way in hell a gt500 is faster from a roll.

It only proves the vette owner should kill himself for being such a shitty racer

I ran 11.3 at 126 and127 in my previous 14 gt500 in 1500 da when showroom stock. I couldnt touch a z06 that was properly driven.

Like I said, from a roll. Look at Z06 or ZL1 acceleration after 100 MPH. 100-150 MPH is something like 10.4 to 11.2 secobds. A 2013-2014 GT500 did it just a couple tenths under 10 seconds.

Like I said, doesn't matter if it's an auto or manual or whether it's in a Z06 or ZL1, the supercharged LT4 after 100 MPH isn't mind blowing.

And im telling you from a roll both the gt500 and z06 properly driven the z06 is faster. I have no idea on what the zl1 camaro can actually do so i didnt comment on that. Youd be best off to ignore magazine stats they are wildly inaccurate typically. Youre better off looking at real world (not magazines) 1/4. Typically (not always but vast majority) the car that traps faster will win from any roll speed.

I'm having a hard time finding a GT500 acceleration video, but when I look at [ame=""]THIS[/ame], say 80-150, it's not flattering. I know it's the ZL1 but the same car used in a roll race vs the Z06 wasn't like the Z06 was destroying the ZL1.
