Has anyone been close enough to see where the oil filter is located and what type it is? Just wondering if it is a cartridge or filter element, and how much of a mess it might make?

compared to my 2014, the new 2015's are easier access. I have only seen the ecoboost though, not sure if the coyote changed at all. Even then its not messy when i do my oil changes

The front under tray has a panel you remove to get at it.
So can't imagine it being fun to change, not sure exactly where drain bold is.
normally those are easy. hopefully not to messy.

Oil filter is not cheap. I saw it on the parts web site. $31 & change.
It's not your standard PH8 filter that goes on almost all Ford engines.

Yes it is some kind of special oil filter for the GT350. The owner's manual states that if you don't use that filter engine damage may occur. I am sure that 10qts of 5w-50 full synthetic oil won't be cheap either. I will not cheap out and maintain the car with the right oil filter and oil plus I won't cry when it is time to replace those expensive Michelin Tires. You don't buy a car like this to cheap out and not maintain it properly.

True that. Don't talk about inexpensive Michelins to me... my Z's are literally $500 each. And I'm near halfway through my 2nd set already. Won't get into the other track-related consumables. :D

A case of the oil for this car will be between $150 and $200! I will always change the oil myself. I don't trust Jiffy lube or other service places would do it right and cheap out on the filter or put the wrong oil in it.

Stock up @ NAPA for a while... They've got all Mobil 1 for $5.99/qt this month, including 5w50.

5.2 oil filter

Thanks for posting that page. I just checked on the Parts site
to make sure I read it right.

I was thinking if it's possible to do a remote filter location & use the common PH8 filter ? It'll be cheaper to R/R the filter & add more oil capacity. Getting to old to crawl under the car.

Ford has a very specific oil and filter for the 5.2. I doubt if you're going to find them at NAPA for such a low volume engine. I'll stick with their expensive parts and keep the warranty.

OEM filter for me... hello no will I deviate to a non-Ford part such as the oil filter, a key component.

Just curious what the specs are on Ford's 5w50 recommended for the GT350? API Rating? Not like Mobil 1 is a low-quality oil...
