Averaging over 10k per month is very good, though a telling of the times it still does not match the '05 and before sales figures.

Surprised to see that the Camaro is still sitting around 5k. The Mustang saw a huge increase in Nov and Dec of 2014 after release. Either supply is still extremely constrained or there is just not the broad appeal to the car, with the performance selling to enthusiasts but the other aspects not speaking to the general buyer beyond the 5G Camaro. I am not a Chevy hater, but did not see the appeal of the Camaro beyond performance with the 5G, and do not expect that to change with the 6G. Will know after sitting in one at the Portland Auto Show.

Yup..I think you're pretty close on that.

If someone goes onto a lot and sits in a low mile, or very discounted new 2014/2015 Camaro V6 and then looks at a Gen 6 V6 Camaro that's $5,000 or $6,000 more...if you're not into needing the absolute bleeding edge and just want a good looking, reasonably quick "muscle car"...a used 5th Gen fits that bill much better than a brand new, more expensive, more cramped 6th Gen.

Look at what happened when the 5th Gen came out (April 2009)...where the Mustang (and Challenger) was...

Mustang V6: 4.0L, 200 HP
Camaro V6: 3.6L, 312 HP
Challenger V6: 3.5L, 250 HP

Mustang GT: 4.6L, 315 HP
Camaro SS: 6.2L, 400 & 426 HP
Challenger R/T: 5.7L 375 HP

The Camaro was the clear, obvious choice for performance...it had the highest numbers at the best value. Now ALL the numbers are tightened up. Dodge introduced the 6.4 to the R/T trim, Ford has undercut the V6 Camaro with the V6 Mustang AND the EcoBoost.

The GT-R/T-SS trims are much closer in terms of power and value...

The entire market just isn't as easy for the Camaro to dominate as it was over 6 years ago..and sales reflect that as of right now.

These are only U.S. sales according to goodcarbadcar.com.
Cool, ta. I think I asked the question last month, but couldn't remember the answer

I'd be interested to know the full Mustang output from Flat Rock for 2015 :)

Based on the loose figures thrown around...my guess is somewhere north of 144,000

As I've said before on this forum...

The Challenger hasn't ever been the top-dog seller...but it's been extremely consistent for a car that shares its production lines with two other cars (The Charger and 300).
I think the Challenger and Charger should be lumped into one number. They are essentially the same car, 2 door vs 4 door.

In that case the Challenger/Charger would be the dominant seller..period.

They sell a combined unit total around 16,000 a month...

2 doors and 4 doors are not the same car. They have the same engine doesent mean they are the car. In your theory might as well combine corvette and camaro sale together. mustang will loose for sure lol

Not really an accurate comparison

The Challenger (LC) is almost identical to the Charger/300 (LX) platform because LC is a very mildly different version of LX.

Think of it as a Golden Delicious Apple and a Honeycrisp Apple..that's LX and LC

Corvette (Orange) and Camaro (Pear)...both fruit..but nowhere near the same.

BMW used to report 2 and 4 door 3-series sales together, but now the 3-Series (4-door) and 4-Series (2 door) are separate cars. Just like the Challenger and Charger are separate cars.

On paper, a 3 and 4 series are identical (ignoring the 4-series grand coupe being a 4-door version of the 2-door version of the 4-door 3-series) they have the same drive train options, but they are still different cars with different sales numbers.

Total US + Canada (not counting December for Canada) is 128,930. That would mean that total world sales for 2015 would be ~15k.

How does that December number break out - is that 2015 AND 2016 Mustangs?

I know I'm part of the 2015 December sales figure, but with a 2016 EB.

I think that's just total Mustangs, so it'd be a combo of 2015's and 2016's.

It's Calendar year 2015.
