No chance. 3600 at best.
I am also a bit skeptical in regards to weight. But it’s a moot point because car has enough race tested aerodynamics, And big big power and brakes Which pays dividends at the Nurburgring. Just look at the GT350R, much heavier than a same era Porsche GT4, but puts up faster lap time at the ‘Ring (and also beat it in 2016 IMSA championship season 😎)
The GTD will be 4000 lbs. MAYBE 3800. It's not going to beat a GT2 RS. The GT4 is a wildly different animal than the GT2 RS too, I don't know I'd call that an apples to apples comparison.

Just thinking out loud here. The few pictures Ford has released, MM left a lot on the table that it could have cut weight with. The GTD will have plenty of room to drop weight.

I think the #77 had a rear suspension failure. Nonetheless, it is great that Ford still builds race cars (#88 was 3rd?):

I'll bet you $100 it will be less than 3800#. I will also bet you it will have a time better than the GT2 RS at the ring.

Well said. Nonetheless, the fact that it raced as a loud V-8 is awesome.

Time will tell. I wish Ford would just put one on the freaking scale already!

In all seriousness, I think Ford is still trying to drop weight, which is why they haven't published the weight yet. I bet that initial 4,000 lb quote from MM soured some people's grapes.

i am more of the opinion that it will less than 3800 and faster if not as fast as a GT2RS.
My main reason being that was/is the main selling point. If its not then it would be more like a S650 GT500 variant with million dollar (not really) suspension and aero in my opinion.

Porsche is known as the best driver's car and is the standard in GT class. If you are saying you can beat that and back it up with an iconic name in auto industry then the lap times and name have sold the car for you.

I wanted to buy another 2019/2020 GT350 (Gen 2 5.2L) months ago (~3760 pounds). I had no luck at my price point.

My car when new, no options:
2019GT350MSRP.jpg

~$60K (no options)

I say inflation is 30% in the last 4-5 years? So $78K for a fast no option S750 race car for the street?

The current government says 2035 as the last ICE car? It's not going to happen.

100 hp advantage surely offset what 200 kg weight difference ?

The Staubli connector on RL brake line either failed or wasn't hooked up properly. I'm guessing the latter.

For sure ! But also need to have comparable cooling, braking, mechanical and downforce for a lap around the Nurburgring.
That’s why it costs $300k+.

They had to be able to make the money back from renting wind tunnels and to pay for track time to make sure the brakes work.

I was referring to 2016 GT350R versus 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 😎
Ah roger that. Didn’t know it did faster times than the Porshahh

I still think the 350R/FP350s/GT4 are some of the best cars ever from aesthetics AND performance. Off topic but that’s how these thing go some times

My point was that the Cayman GT4 has 200 kg less but also 100 hp less (400 hp) to 529 hp for the GT350R so my point was that at a very long track as the Nurburgring the 100 hp more will help the GT350 outrun the Cayman GT4. Also GT350R has extra cooling like diff and oil cooler ?

As long as we're talking 'Ring times, the new Vette isn't going to be a slouch, either.
