Why do I only get 7200 rpm instead of 7500?

If it's not rev banging like a typical rev limiter and just "falling on it's face" where it seems like the throttle is closing, well that's exactly what it's doing. If that's the case then it's temp based.
I guess I described it incorrectly. Yes it bangs off the rev limiter. But you can very much feel it pull fuel and cut power. ā€œFalling on faceā€ was probably a bad way to describe it.

Regardless, the 7500 RPM limiter is there, regardless of what rev number the instrument display lets you set.

My 2020 had a soft limiter at 7300, hard limiter at 7500rpm. My car was a PP1 manual tranny car.

The Mach and Bullitt GT350 manifold pulls linear power from 7000 rpmā€™s to well past 8000 rpmā€™s. There is no power loss. The question becomes is raising the limiter to 8000+ worth it.

My 2018 M6 seems to hit the hard limiter at about 7700-7800 rpm (stock tune). It will definitely go past 7500 at least according to the in dash tach (301A, so not digital gauges). I find shifting at 7000-7200 seems to get me the best ET. However, since I trap in 3rd gear, Iā€™m usually right at 7500 or just a little more when I go through the trap at about 114-115 mph.

That is the option for the ā€œperformance shift indicatorā€

The red on my tach starts at 7400-7500 I usually have the shift light set for 6500 with the tone. I would have to look more closely but I have no reason to think my car is not at 7500 when I hit the hard limiter occasionally. At Daytona I hit 158mph in 5th gear on the rev limiter and that seems accurate for 7500rpm for the gear ratios.

An issue I can't figure out with my 22 Mach 1 is that the rev limit is at 7,200

I was researching this topic a few days ago. I can offer some threads what could be happening, but I cannot explain why things are the way they are.

The following discuss engine fuel cutoff and that it might be programmed or engineered to occur at 7200 in MT cars, 7500 in AT cars. Do you think this is what you're witnessing?

Good point. Now look at my tach and look how it places a "limit" vs where yours goes further up.

That is in the performance shift settings and it is described in the manual. Turn everything in there off and try again.

I had a chance to experiment with mine just now.

Initially, my Shift Indicator was set to 5500. My tach redline showed like yours: begins at 7400.

Then, I adjusted the indicator to the maximum: 7200. This setting was saved.

Checking the tach again, the indicator position updated, while the redline was unchanged (as expected).

Looks the same to me? 7200 setting for shift indicator, I donā€™t have a video but it does go above the 7200 line to at or just beyond the larger 7500rpm hash

If makes no sense to bang it off the Rev limiter anyway. You are gonna stretch your cam chains and damage other components until it breaks.
This is a good pointā€¦ Lots of powdered steel oil pump gears lives were taken early bouncing of the Rev limiter.

The mach 1 ā€œredlineā€ is actually 7400 rpm Set in The IPC. More than likely you are hitting a rev limiter for fuel or transmission. There are many things in the tune that can limit your RPMs set by Ford before you even hit the IPCs visual ā€œlimitā€. You will need a tuner to resolve the safety limits.

Shift point and rev limiter are totally different from each other. You cannot change the rev limiter in the settings menu.
