Anyone running the Vorshlag rear tow hook on their Mach 1?

https://vorshlag-store.com/collecti...-aero/products/s550-mustang-rear-tow-hook-red

Vorshlag says they “it should” fit. Apparently GT, no problem. GT350, some trimming of the lower valance area is required because of a tight fit between the exhaust and lower area. They didn’t have a definitive answer with the Mach 1, but said they believe it will fit because there appears to be more clearance.

I may just be theguinea pig on this one and give it a go.I like their rear hook because it doesn’t require any cutting.

Definitely interested in the results of that.

So score one for Vorshlag customer service. Dude emailed me back today and said they have a customer coming in with a 2023 Mach 1 requesting track prep.

Not sure which one of you it is but we should have a definitive answer in a few days.

So Vorshlag got back to me and said they’re waiting on parts for their customer’s car and it would likely be 2 weeks for an answer. That doesn’t work for me, because I have an appointment at a local race shop to have some work done. Based on their install instructions, I think it’ll fit, so ordered one. I’ll report back May 9th once my car is done.

Finally got the hook installed. To answer the question does it fit on a Mach 1, yes. But, you will need to do a little trimming on the underside rear of the valance. (It’s actually a separate little piece that removes from the main part of the valance.) Other than that, fits perfect, sits level, doesn’t rattle, and is actually almost not noticeable unless you’re looking for it.

I chose this particular hook cause I didn’t want to do any trimming, but it’s in an area you can’t see.

Full disclosure, I had it installed at a local performance shop because they were doing an oil change, setting track alignment specs, changing brake fluid, and doing SS lines and pins, and installing Steeda jacking rails. I don’t believe there were any other stumbling blocks.

Thanks for the update! I was just trying to figure out where I saw this post as I’m considering the same rear hook.

Hope it helps. Overall very happy with it. Very subtle appearance.

I’m not sure how well it’ll work to actually yank the car if needed, but Vorshlag uses them on their Mustangs so it’s somewhat tested I’m guessing. With a little luck I’ll never find out how well it works.

Have someone ever pulled on it, I mean really pulled on it?
It looks like an alibi hook point to me, if nothing was broken during the run-off, but at the latest if someone pulls on it, at least the rear skirt will suffer?!
Is the weld instead of a bend then the predetermined breaking point?

The part from Vorschlag for the front seems to be better thought out, it has two reinforcements.

For me, I chose this hook over the FRPP or other options, cause I didn’t want to cut my bumper. But I agree with you, I think a really hard yank may cause some secondary damage to the rear valance. I feel like the hook point will likely bend a bit.

With that said, my first choice of course would be to avoid being towed altogether. My second choice would be the front hook point. (I’ll be using the ZL1 front hook)

Let’s hope those of us using this hook never find out how good or bad it is. But if someone does get towed by the rear point, hopefully they’ll be good enough to post and let us know how it worked.

I've used the front Vorshlag hook to get winched onto a flat bed truck. No issues.
No history with the rear hook but I'd trust anything from Vorshlag. Terry puts all his products to the test and documents his results.

Thanks for the input…..Vorshlag is a trusted name for sure, and from my limited experience with their customer service, they’re very responsive and helpful.
