It's a special kind of idiot that can't drive what can more or less be driven like an automatic.
"I thought it was a manual because it was really jerky, but there was no third pedal."

Having a valet park a modern V8 stick is how you get on YouTube inadvertently.

I offered to teach my sister-in-law a manual but she balked. Plus she wants a camero. I am about to disown her. My brother always had Ford vans for his transport business and he bought her a Lincoln Navigator a year or so before he left us and she is like 4'6" tall and needs a ladder to detail it. Thankfully she uses products that dfb has tested.

Try this for strange.

My SISTER was the one who wanted manual cars, but her husband didn't want to be bothered to learn.

It was not until recently that I realized that I have never had a car or truck with an automatic transmission. My wife’s cars have all been automatics, and yes, I drive them. But, for the 52 years I have been driving my cars and trucks have all been manuals.

Some day in the future, I guess it will become a thing of the past like controlling the engine timing with a lever on the steering wheel. Or, perhaps, hitching a horse to a buggy. Sad in some ways, but time marches on and waits for no man.

Your sister married a woman? Nothing wrong with that.

This won't encourage me to leave my FOB in the car, but will give me some additional peace of mind. :giggle:

Funny how this subject came up. I took my drivers' test in a 69 Plymouth with a 3-on-the-tree in the snow. It was early 70s, in our family, we were -boys and girls both-taught to check oil, tire pressure, and drive a stick. I actually learned driving on a 49 Ford F-6 and a John Deere 630. I've owned 22 cars and of them 6 were sticks, most recent a 1995 Firebird Formula (6spd) until now.
Last month someone who was doing god knows what besides driving pulled out directly in front of me from a side road., and effectively totaled my 16 Mustang DD I've had since new. Fortunately, no one had any serious injuries.
I'm retired now, live in an expensive town, and have a fixed income. Even putting some of my savings with the payout didn't give me much. The best car I could find for the little money (that wasn't sold from under me, lol) is a Ford Certified, low mileage, nicely optioned EB with a 6MT.
One owner, local.
Lol, part of me thinks I need my head examined, after all, aren't old ladies supposed to be driving a Toyota or something? But I'm loving the challenge, hadn't driven a stick in over 20 years, and it's coming back fast. And the high-fives at C&C were sure fun.
I'm thinking we shouldn't give younger people too much of a hard time-after all, we never taught them to drive sticks. And automatics today are so, so much better than they were in our youth. I loved the manual sport mode I could play with 6R80 in my 16.
So, fingers crossed, this new-to-me Mustang will give me the service and enjoyment the first did- Oh, and the salesman made sure I knew how to engage "valet mode", lol

My 26 year old daughter learned how to drive on a 5 speed 4.0 liter Jeep Wrangler. When her mom and I divorced, her mom got the Jeep in the divorce and used to hold it over her head when they weren't getting along, so I told her I would buy her another one. I started looking, in the mean time I got her a 2006 2 door Honda Civic, 5 speed. Better car for college anyway. I kept sending her Jeeps I would find on market place. Some really nice, V8 swaps, etc. Every time it was an automatic she would say "Nope. I want a stick. Dad." I was like okay, I raised this one right. I bought here a really nice manual 1995 YJ, with a Rock cage, on board air, sitting on 37's, Atlas II transfer case, etc. When she graduated college she enlisted in the army, was stationed in California for 10 months for AIT, she paid to have it shipped out there. She now is stationed in Colorado and has bought herself a manual 2019 Civic sport, but still has the Jeep. She says every time she drives it out there, someone offers her money for it. She LOVES both of her cars.

My 23 year old son, currently has 2 Mustangs...(yay!!) a 4.0 Liter 2007...automatic (boooo)...and a 2017 Rio Red Metallic GT Premium 6R80...(booo again). He can't drive a stick and has ZERO desire to learn how. I guess you might say I have 2 daughters, or 1 SHOULD have been my son the other should have been my daughter, but it's the wrong one? I don't know where I went wrong with him...smh, lol.
