UPR has a new (to me) drain valve. I was wondering what people thought?

It uses the same wave washer methodology to attach as does the Ronin valve.

Not sure if the wave washer is putting any tension on the tabs on the pan or not.

I like that the valve is one piece and they have a screw on billet cap.

This is not the original easy valve they had before.

I think the open close should be on the blue and a push and turn (with arrow) to remove on the black. I could see a mechanic trying to turn the black breaking the tabs on the pan if they are not familiar especially since the original yellow plug required no push down to remove.

I havent yet because its still low mileage and i only change once a year since its not my daily. I probably should now that im boosted but im honestly not concerned. The coyote is a tough son of a bitch. I feel if something is wrong enough to be putting metal in the oil pan the engine is just gonna let go under boost anyway.

I had a Femco, but it would leave a considerable (to me) amount of oil in the pan if you didn't completely remove it after draining. I switched back to the OEM. I can spend the extra $15 for a new one at each oil change if I need to since I usually only change it once a year.

Do you unscrew the whole thing after the drain to check/clear any debris on the magnet?
I'm using the generation referenced in the link above.

My initial oil change was at 1265 mi / 2035 km; it was then that I installed the UPR plug.

The attached pictures were from the second oil change, one year later.

It's best to remove the plug. If you look at the design of the pan, there's something of a lip. To remove the last of whatever is in the pan, the plug should come out. Drain through the spout, then remove the plug and clean.

It's is still young, but it works very well. I've not had any issues. Last oil change, didn't spill a drop. I actually lounged :giggle:under the car (Summer heat, cold concrete) while it drained.

I have the previous UPR easy valve but the metal wings are a bit of a pain to remove it.

this one never exposes any threads when opening or closing the valve keeping the threads clean.

I would almost classify this one as a better version of the Ronin valve.

the Femco being plastic bothers me a bit.

you can see how the valves works in this video

I just stick with the oem yellow plugs. You got to remove the whole plug either way if you want to get all the old oil out.
