Unless you have larger diameter tires than stock, that's not physically possible. What's more likely is that your speedometer is optimistic.

I was just about at redline at 173. I figured the car would do maybe 175.

The fact that it takes 8 times the horsepower to go 2 times faster under the same conditions. The stock GT350 has a hard time hitting maximum speed in 5th gear. Speed limitations in this car are the weight and drag. Gearing indicates 178 mph @ 8250 RPM, but it doesn't have the power to get there.

I believe it's around 144 or so?

I've hit the rev limiter in 4th gear with 143 showing on the digital display going down the front straight at The Ridge Motorsports Park.

Here's a spreadsheet you can make a copy of if you want to plug different numbers in and find out the answer.

Mostly depends on what tire you're running, assuming you haven't messed with the rear gears.

What I dont like is that the exhaust valves close in 6th gear. Some have used this to their advantage at laguna seca to get past the sound mic. There is a company that makes a override for the pipes (i think the company is AWE). I have a controller I never installed. Maybe one day I'll get off my ass and do it.

At an event we had 3 16-17 GT350" all do 177 mph, The r only did 173 because of the rear wing.

Interesting. I always thought it was done for anti-droning on the interstate... but I wonder if it’s done primarily to maintain back pressure at lower rpm and low gearing.

Looks like the 173 max for the R is more a function of the tires size/gearing as calculated in post #19 and then again in post #38.

Pretty sure the valves open in 6th gear at WOT regardless of speed.
