I'm attaching links to two different sites; they show photos of the concept models and how the EG shows.

https://www.diecastdirect.com/product/35703/Pre-Orders

https://www.3000toys.com/Greenlight-Diecast-2022-Ford-Mustang-Mach-1/sku/greenlight13350-f

Anyone can pre-order at several sites today, but production and delivery is not expected until May-Jun. Those interested could wait. Wholesale Diecast Models (and others) typically buy these in a lot of 100 and make them available all at once.

I’ve bought a few of mine from WDM. Great seller, they package everything they ship very well so nothing gets damaged.

In 2019 or 2020, Hot Wheels published a car series, "id". These cars were hot-rodded and modded Matchbox cars, with a QR or scan code in the packaging. It was a means to allow people to document and share their collections on-line, possibly associate them with a game. I'm seeing the cars more and more on EBay. The series includes street cars, race cars, vans and trucks.

Below is a photo of an S550 I'll be buying today. This specific one prices in the mid teens and lower, new. There's another one, rare or limited edition, associated with Falken tires that sells for much more.

One of the coolest is a VW Beetle. As with the Falken, outside my price point.

I'm attaching some links to a few sellers, so you can see the variety of cars available. Most of these price at $15 and below. The more rare units are pricing $50-$75.

Doing general searches today, I came across what appears to be a collection, now being broken up for sale.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ss...=antiquesandswords&_oac=1&_dmd=2&rt=nc&_pgn=1

When I came across the initial listing for one set, my first thought was, "Man. I would have kept them all in the packaging." But I then realized this person had been collecting thousands of them. I've highlighted the store; they are located in Schaumburg, IL (north of Chicago).

Whoever this person was, they obsessively bought, collected or hoarded 1:64 diecasts of all kinds, many times the same car, all of which were then stowed in containers.

In an attempt to discover who the person was, I found the following article and video (two other collectors. Not the person/s related to the EBay listing).

The article highlights a Scott Moen, who collected Mustangs.

The YouTube video is a tour of, "The Mustang Garage", located somewhere in Belgium.

On the one hand, I'm relieved. "I'm crazy. But not as crazy as these people." :giggle: On the other, Bless them for being that obsessive. Some of these collections are stunning. Phenomenal.:thumbsup:

I’m about 30 minutes from Schaumburg and have never heard of this place/person. I’ll see if I can do some digging (there’s several on the forum that are in or closer to Schaumburg also, maybe they know). Pretty awesome collection though

If you find anything, I'd certainly appreciate knowing. Often the stories of these people and how things come to being are as interesting as the cars themselves. I'm going to message the seller, to see if they can provide any general information.

This mall shop is 15 miles from Schaumburg. I'm guessing they're related. https://www.facebook.com/vintagememcm/

My thought is, whomever had the collection, they've now passed. The Vintage Shack was selected to sell it. My experience on this topic...

We had a home full of items we were considering selling, called several estate sales businesses and selected one. Their plan was to bring two or three people into the home, photograph and catalog everything, then list it on-line. Whatever did sell, they took 20% of gross, directly from us. Whatever did not sell, we were left with. The timeline for those sales was 60-90 days, something that didn't work for us. I've found what I described is not an uncommon practice.

Edit: An additional concern was being low-balled by phantom bidders on anything from kitchen towels to the home itself. The possibility a business would have an associate or relative bid on items at low amounts.

Another option was to attempt to sell things ourselves. One or two garage sales would bring something. Selling on-line at that scale would be difficult and time-consuming.

Taking everything into account, we took what we wanted and donated everything else.

Returning to this collector and the others, I have to imagine anyone collecting at these scales is somehow related to the industry. Someone at a plant, executive connected to several businesses, distribution or something. Having several of something can be done. Having one of each variation, that's like something completely different. Money helps.

That’s interesting. I’ve messaged a high volume seller several times and never got that kind of response.

Their storefront per the FB page is in Algonquin, I know the area they’re in. If I’m up that way in the next week or two, I might just pop in and ask.
