I'll come back to this comment in about a year. We'll see who had it right then. [emoji38]

That it would fit, hell yeah I would. My truck had tons of extra space all around especially the front.

Can't wage on whether ford would use it or not.

Engine is tiny in there..

Coyote uses more space..

A turbo charged V6 can take up more room than a NA V8 width wise based on the same block minus 2 cylinders.

Even with a 60 degree V it will still be a very tight shoe horn job. They have to find place to fit the two turbos sticking out from the sides. Unlike in the case of a truck, it will be particularly hard to do it in a car with low hood and big shock towers. And then all the heat management.......Supercharging will make more sense.

May be that's why Audi supercharged their V6 rather than turbo charging it. For an inline engine like the BMW 3L it is a different story.

Glad to see some discussion on the TT 6. I have it in my FX2 Supercrew and it is strong. Been wondering if it would fit or be an option for a special edition Mustang but some of this discussion doesnt leave me optimistic. I do hope Ford pays homage to the SVO from the 80's at some point with special edition Turbo model at some point. Just want the future GT500 to outrun the heavycat.

V6TT mustang would be a beast. If it runs 12s in a Supercrew with tune only I can't imagine what it would run in the S550.

Audi Power V'ed their V-8s cause of this. I think the Power V is so much better anyways and Ford should have done it with the Eco boost V-6s.

The Audi V-8TT is a mean motor for a 4.0 V-8. RS7 making over 900 h.p. with race gas and a tune.

If a Mach 1 resurfaces, my guess is it'll be a CPC 5.2..
.
Mach 1 is coming next fall as a 2018 (refresh) Model, ecobeast motor based off the GT, but less expensive parts, engine numbers won't be available until extensive testing is over (July 2017 est) no GT500, but the 350 will most likely do another 2 year run to close out the 6G, back to the  ...crumbs, follow we will:D

It is easier to package a V8 with twin turbos inside the V - as in the Power V in the RS7 - into a big Audi with symmetrical Quattro 4WD because the engine is pushed all the way towards the front, in order for the transmission to directly drive the front wheels. In the case of the Mustang where the engine is set way back, this will be very difficult. How are they going to route the exhaust exiting from the turbos in the V, and fit the two pre-cats on them at the same time?

For the next GT500 or Mach 1 my bet is a supercharger inside the V.

If it is a Power V 6 then there is room. Anyone seen the layout in the GT? Is it V or on the sides, or even behind?

Looks like they hang way behind. The engine bay behind the cockpit is quite narrow because of all the aero tunnels.

I saw this speculation on another site. Normally i'd say BS like every other rumor but it sounds plausible and we need something new to talk about.

Engine guesses are kind of all over the place. IIRC the other "credible" rumor was an all new big block V8?

I have been running the Performance Division of Ray Skillman Ford for 11 years. I have been with Ford for 18 years.

Here is what I am seeing and hearing and guessing based on the information I have, history of what Ford has done in the past with new release specialty Mustangs and their similar patterns...

Of course I could go back a lot further, but lets start in 2009. 2009 was a SHORT model year because Ford wanted a FULL year of the new 2010 bodystyle Mustang. So 2009 model Mustangs only ran about 6 months so Ford could bring the 2010 models out early in June.

This has become more and more practice throughout the years as opposed to bringing out new models in the fall. Carryover models typically do run through the fall. The 2014 Mustangs actually came out in March or so of 2013 (way early) so they could get a full year in of that model year and leave plenty of time to transition to the new body in 2015.

Some key things here are the GT500 stopped production as of the 2014 model and were not released in 2015. The GT350 was announced in 2015 as a 2 year model intended to run 2016 and 2017 (though they did a small run of a couple hundred 2015's at the very end). Interestingly enough, Ford coded the GT350 with the same body code as the GT500 which is P8J. This kind of tells you as long as the GT350 is around, Ford would not be producing a GT500 along side it. The early speculation was the GT500 was supposed to be a 2017. In fact, the body code conflict told us early on, that would not be the case unless Ford completely recoded it which was unlikely. It will be a 2018 as this thread suggests but it should be out in the summer of 2017 (June or July) because Ford wants an early start with it.

The 2016 model year, like the 2009 model year will be short. Final orders should cease to be accepted around March to April at the latest and orders for the 17's should begin around there or soon after. Expect to see the first 2017 Mustangs around June, or July at the latest tis year. This gives the 2016's a short year, but more than the 6 months of the 2009. Then the 2017 model Mustangs should run a full year so the 2018's can be released in June or July.

Expect to see the 2018 GT500 in June or July of 2017 with a little over 700HP. My sources do NOT expect a GT350 motor to be installed in the 2018 GT500. Rather, the speculation is a turbocharged 5.0. Of course it is still early so Ford could revert back to the supercharged platform. Also, expect a slight freshening of the 2018 model Mustangs similar to what happened in 2013 over the 2010-2012 body.

Other than that, only time will tell... but feel free to throw in any information any of you may have to add.

Like the sound of that. Hope it is true and that the auto is made available.
