At some places around 100mph but mainly around 40-55 in 2nd and 3rd. I hit redline once and stayed between 6-7k RPMs.When you say spirited, how were you driving the car? Problem with driving in the high RPM's on the street is that you spend a lot of the time having the engine revving high, and consequently generating a lot of heat, but you probably aren't getting up to considerable speed very often to which the oil coolers can really be effective.
The slower you go while also keeping RPM's high, is going to lead to high temps.
I checked and there was nothing blocking them. I slowed down and it stayed at around 250. I kept it slow until passing two cars and could see the temp gauge rise while being in a lower gear.Did you check your coolers to make sure you didn't suck up a plastic bag or something?
300 isn't the end of the world, but in those temps, I think 250 would be a bit more normal. I'm down in FL and see it close to 250 as the temps go up. I'm trying to recall my track temps, all out for 30 mins...... Im thinking closer to 275 ish????
More information please.
Agreed. Unfortunately one time isn't a great indicator of something that is SO incredibly volatile depending on the situation. Even wind direction can cause weirdness with stuff like that. I know it's silly but that's why drifters used to run no fascia so the radiators and exchangers could get airflow. D1 has figured that all out now though.I'd say repeat the process next time you are out and about.
If it does it again, then I'd look more into it.
