Hey Fellas -

Anything I can do to this car to help with the fuel uptake? I found again today on the track once I dipped below 50% tank the car was really bogging out. Stuttering in 3rd as I was trying to accelerate - even a bit in 2nd and 4th. Incredibly irritating.

I am going to take the car in next week and have the dealership look at it - but once I put more fuel in it my last session was great. Drove it like I stole it again.

Thoughts?

Fill the tank to full between sessions?

My experience has given me no issues until a little below 1/4th tank. I don't start a session with less than 1/2 tank now. Still, that does seem early for the engine to be cutting out from fuel. Your pump might be on its way out or, maybe, improperly mounted? It might be worth pulling it out for a look. I'd be interested to know if your dealer will investigate that under warranty since they can't easily reproduce it.

I'll let you know. Car will be going in this week (most likely or next). The fellsa at the dealership I use are fantastic. I believe they will investigate.

Naw. Shouldn't have too.

I will if that turns out to be my only option though.

How can they reproduce track conditions? I am not sure I would drop my car off to someone who would try.

Matt is correct. About 1/4 tank and its fuel starvation time. I went out on my next session without topping up and experienced what you describe. I agree not a 1/2 tank, but fuel goes quick in these cars. Fill it up. If you have no problem, I doubt its the pump.

I have no intention of dropping if off and asking them to recreate the problem.

I'll just tell them what I am experiencing. I have a great relationship with my local dealership. Couldn't think higher of the crew. They haven't let me down yet. If I ask them to check the pump I don't see any reason as to why they wouldn't.

But - you could be right man. Could just be that my fuel is too low and at half a tank coming out of some heavy turns it is sloshing around.

I've run my car down to the point where it said I had "10 miles to empty" while at the track with no issues.

At Daytona below 1/2 on the banking it would fuel starve. I can't run 2 30 min sessions on a full tank so I just fuel up every time.

Big design flaw IMO if fuel is cutting out at the track at 1/2 tank. Should not happen for a car of this caliber.

I agree.

I am not upset about it though - I just want to know if a fix exists? Could I install a new fuel tank? New Pump? Drill holes anywhere? Reroute some hoses?

Not looking for 'why don't you fill up' - I know that. Everyone that doesn't want to improve/mod the car knows that.

I am ripping down this R, driving the ever loving hell out of it and building it up to be better.

Best of luck in your re-design. My answer wasn't trying to be a smart ass, that's just the way the car is..... And it is closer to 1/4 tank.

Seriously, best of luck with it.
