MY18 Base R Question

Was wondering how the MY18 base R model (my MY17 base R is arriving next week ) will comply with the new back up camera option required for 2018 cars in the US. Anyone know? Thanks. :cheers:

I would venture to guess that they will put the little screen in the rearview mirror as that should be the lightest weight option.

EDIT: Have searched and see there are direct fit rear view mirrors with integral displays for rear view camera (also double displays in rear view mirror for two cameras). Very cool

I've heard conflicting stories about the R's availability for 2018. I know the GT350 continues for 2018, but it might be in only non-R trims.

My 17R arrives next week. Was at dealer today for some paperwork and he advised that his dealer has no MY18 allocations and he spoke with their zone rep today. They had allocations in 16 and 17, but no word today re MY18. Have yet to hear someone with confirmed or convincing 2018 order. :shrug:

It will be interesting to see how many 2017 GT350s are made. The dealer I go to got four more regular GT350s from Ford on top of the six regular and 2 Rs they already received.

Last year someone was posting the production figures regularly. I have yet to see that once for MY17. Are there any results posted for this year?

None of the dealers in my area have MY18 allocations yet either.

Isn't there a guy on here who claims he already ordered one? I need to go check his posts to see if he was talking about an R or non-R.

Edit: Confirmed. He said dealers already got their allocations for MY2018 GT350's AND GT350R's, and he put a deposit on one.

Orders open up next month. Dealers should know their allocations already. If they don't know, then they probably didn't sign up for the program, didn't get allocated any, or talk to someone else further up the ladder in the dealership.

I don't know if anyone else knows this, but I don't think just by putting in for a spot on an 18 guaranteed the dealership a car.

You won't see any production numbers for MY17 as it is not complete yet
Expect some preliminary numbers in August/September. My guess is they will build somewhere around 5k GT350's for MY17.
