Jesus Christ!!! I am married and over 40 years old, NO lapse in coverage, no tickets or accidents for over 8 years and so on. Just got a quote for over $6500 a year with 300/100/300 and uninsured driver also. With a Corvette and Nissan truck I was paying $2200 a year. They told me that the Mustang GT is the reason it is so high!! :frusty:

Before I bought my EB convertible, I asked my insurance agent for a quote...she said "wow, I didn't realize that a Mustang would come in that cheap!" When I asked about a GT instead...she said "what a difference a V8 makes!"

Best shop around. I was at ~$1400 a year with zero points but one ticket in past 3 years. Just had an accident and it cost insurnace 16k to fix it, now im at ~1800 year.

To me, the $6,500 quote is outrageous and totally out of line....mine is nowhere near that amount. Get yourself another quote or two and you should see a substantial difference. Good luck.

I pay $700 every six months with Progressive, with whom I'm like a platinum member now since I've been with them since Jesus Christ healed the sick.

I am in Texas. With my Nissan and Corvette Grand Sport I was paying $160 a month with awesome coverage. This Mustang is getting sold.

Damn, I know insurance depends on so many factors, but I pay 1600/year for full coverage on three cars right now. I'm looking to downsize to two cars.

Something is very fishy here...

There is no way, without a DUI/DWI that a Mustang GT would add $4300 per year to a policy. In ten years you could have paid for another Mustang GT!

Granted, each insurance company does have what they call "Requires underwriter approval" and "Unacceptable" vehicles. Your carrier may see the Mustang GT as such.

However, something is not right. If you want the car, shop insurance. Each carrier has what they consider the "Perfect" client. And builds their products around that client.

We have...

$2,500,000 Liability (Includes Umbrella)
$2,500,000 UIM/UM (Includes Umbrella)
$35k PIP
$1000 Comp with $0 glass
$1000 Coll
$50 per day Rental Car
Accident forgiveness
$100 per year (Max $500) reduction on Coll Ded for each claim free year
Two car year replacement upgrade guarantee/gap

All for $1387 per year on a 2016 Mustang GT Premium...

Like others have said, shop around. I switched to Geico insurance to get the lowest rate. I'm 59, married, no points and I'm just under $1K year with $500 collision, and $250 comp. deductibles. I lowered my liability coverage some this year since I don't own a home. The 100/300 was overkill since I don't own anything.
