I do agree the Mustangs had an impressive run at Daytona. I would love to go in the pits and hang around the Mustang team cars.

What is it like to go to one of these races? Do you show up for the start then hang around for a while, then go to your hotel and come back for the finshed? Or do you find a place in the stands and take a nap.
I've done LeMans 24 about 10 times and it's been a little different each time.

Sometimes we watch the start.
Sometimes we watch the end.
We always watch some late at night / early in the morning - sunrise is nice.
We also go to different areas of the track (which is a car trip - remember LeMans is a 8.5 mile track).

You see drunk folk everywhere. You see people asleep everywhere (in sleeping bags, up against the back of railings / armco, on embankments, sat in the grand stands etc).

I don't know if Daytona do the same, but LeMans do a drivers parade in town and a pit walk the day before the race - both are nice to do.

Travel to and from the track, how long we stay at the track and the time of day we do it mostly depends on how much beer we have drunk, how much BBQ we have ate and how we feel on the day (we camp a few miles away).

A 24 hour race is a great experience however you do it ... :sunglasses:

The LeMans classic 24 is also a great event (do they do that at Daytona ?), it allows you to get much closer to the cars / pits / drivers :

@WD Pro, awesome photos, I hope to one day see something like this. However, one question for you.

What does French BBQ look like? When I hear someone say they had BBQ outside of Texas, well it's just meat slathered with BBQ sauce  . Sorry KC and Memphis, you all do it wrong.

I have loads of photos but didn't want to clutter the thread - I just posted a few that might be of interest to folk on here :like:

So you are asking about French BBQ cooked by an English man who's lightweight camping in a field and drinking beer ... ? lol

It kind of looks like this :

But without the posh tomato and typically seasoned with grass where the sausages have rolled off the ends.

The aim is for it to be black on the outside and partially raw towards the centre.

It's served on plain bread rolls that have been messily opened by hand and topped with an excess of ketchup oozing out everywhere, its a real treat ... :cwl:

Joking and LeMans camping aside, here's the start of the last BBQ of last year where I got roped into cooking for my daughters scout troop :

Yes its England, yes its raining ...

It’s 5 days at the track. We stay in our motorhome about a 1/4 mile from the track. We have a infield car pass. So we come and go each day. The garage area is great to hang out in. We basically visit every corner during practice laps. it’s a 24 hour race so we go at different hours and catch it. Been going since 1973. We stopped going in 1987. Started up again in 2012. Next year will be the best sports car racing ever at Daytona. Trust me Ford will take on Ferrari again at Daytona and LeMans . Hopefully with a win at both tracks. If you have never gone you are missing some great sounds and race sensations. In field parking is limited so buy your tickets early or ride the trams.

OK, thanks. The picture looks like it has raised intake runners.
It is not a 350 or truck mani . Look at the top it is silverfish, where the truck mani and 350 are black .

Daytona has a 24 Classic most years and it has been a good show when I have been there.

I just compared it to the manifolds I have. the area behind the TB which is not removable is different than a gen 1, 2 or 3 and also not the same as the GT350 manifold. At least from what little I can see in the photo.
