If Mach E had a gas engine, would it still be a dud?

It really, really would have helped if it were say, the same speed as the Model Y (equally equipped). Instead it cuts power and has the trap speed of an old 3 valve.

I don't think the Mach-E is a dud. It's just ugly and sports the wrong badge. But technically it's fine.
If it had a gas engine it would look a bit better (having a proper grille) and would probably be average in its class - not much better or worse than other mid-size SUVs. And would probably be noticeably cheaper, since there would be nothing special to justify its overinflated price, no virtue-signalling feature to boast of and to charge for.

I think if it had a different name and a gas engine it would have sold more.

But for an EV it's doing great. Number 4 in sales? Pretty good in my opinion. Other than pickups, are other Ford vehicles ranking that high in sales?
