I say the GT350 will be the fastest car on any road race track:

I'll stay posted for your time, but do not believe the GT350 will outclass all cars. I moved from a C6Z06 (Stock) to get back into a mustang and I ran a 1:34 on 200 treadwear tires. I can't wait to get this car out there in November to see how well it does, but think the weight will be the disadvantage.

What mods are you making to the car?
GT350 or GT350R?
Any weight reduction?
It is obvious that weight should be lowered from the top of the car. I have the specs here. I am not going to add weight to the lower part of the car as required in IMSA rules. Top weight is bad.

I have owned a flat zero garage floor (with data) since my first days. I need to measure the exact weight distribution on all four corners. I have the gauge tool. I can then measure the negative camber and toe-in (I like toe-in although some like toe-out--as they don't care if the car wanders around at high speeds) .Toe-out really helps to get the car turned into a corner.

The negative camber is really important at Road Atlanta. I would do some early 5-lap calculations on the tire temperatures across the tires to be sure that the tire is using all of it's grip ability. It may be the GT350R specs or not? What are the GT350R specs?

I suspect that all GT350/GT350R cars will perform better on a race track with more negative camber as well a little more toe-in although this will wear out tires faster than on the street car.

1:34 on 200 treadwear tires at Road Atlanta in the 350? That’s quick! Got any video? Would love to see your lines, braking points, etc.

I said lower than ~1:40. I said in a Mustang GT350 production car..I never said a 1:34 which is hauling ass.

It takes a few sessions to get to 1:50, and more work to get to the mid-one forties. I do not think a 1:34 is possible in a GT350.

It's fast but not that fast..

Was responding to Ontrack's comment above. I've run a 1:39 on Sport Cup 2s and I'd bet 1:36-37 is fairly doable. 1:34 is REALLY haulin' like you said. Would love to see that.

Wow, I'd say that a 1:36 is ten times more difficult than a 1:39.

I am not a member of the other social media sites that you mention. You must be a professional racer? The practice at Sebring was yesterday? How did you qualify?

I did well in the rain 10 years ago. ;)

I'm thinking the 1:34 was in the Z06 not the GT350...?

Hell yeah!!!! I feel like an all-star now!!!! First time at Road Atlanta managed to get in the mid 1:40's, 1:46 to be exact. Not to shabby for a first timer at RA. Love that track. I own a base R and was running FP alignment settings and I hit 150mph at the billboard on the back straight. Took me some time to garner the balls to keep my foot down to get there though. Needles to say I need more practice to get into the 1:30's especially adjusting alignment to better utilize all the tire. I would say mid 130's is doable.

agreed mid 130's are doable! I have a buddy that ran in gridlife at road atlanta in a 2011 5.0... not stock but not crazy modded either, and ran a 1:35.9 his first and only weekend at that track... I think he is of the opinion (after driving one) that the gt350 would do same or better with light mods. He essentially matched his time in his '11 w/ the 350 (had fr springs/sways) he drove a few laps in at Autobahn in IL... he's way faster than me for sure! He may be co-driving a 350 in this years events so could be interesting.

Stock, the GT350 would class into NASA Super Touring 2/Time Trial 2 (ST2/TT2) classes for W2W and time trial respectively.

There should be NASA track records recorded for VIR to compare your times against. This would be an excellent way for you to benchmark your lap times.

For example: Someone set a 1:30.8 in TT2 back in 2014

Apples and oranges, but I went 1:46 at Road Atlanta in a BMW E36 325i that was stripped out and caged, otherwise bone stock (including shocks and on street tires - this was a "chump car" race back in 2014). That was my first and only event at that track.

I would sure as hell hope at GT350R with twice the tire, far better suspension, far better brakes, and more than twice the power could take 10 seconds off that time!

Here's BlackBoss running a 1:36. You can see a decent amount of time left on the table at Turn 1, the esses, and turn 12 if you have the cajones. Very smooth driving for sure. I believe he's on R7s, though.

I agree that mid to high 30s would be achievable with the car stock and blackboss put down a good time. AceOne is correct about my 1:34, that was in my stock Z06 not the GT350.
