My 2017 GT has a hard to press clutch since day one. I didn’t really mind at that time.

I have been having knee issues since last month. I had surgery on my left knee about 14 years ago and all of the sudden I have been dealing with some pain again.

I struggle with my clutch if I’m having knee pain.

My stuck clutch was replaced with an Exedy 500 stage 1 and pedal feels the same.

Does the clutch springs that everybody talks about make the pedal harder or softer? I keep hearing conflicting reports on the matter.

Removing the spring or putting in an aftermarket spring will make the pedal heavier.

I feel your pain! The Steeda clutch spring makes it harder not easier. Did you buy it used? As in, is there a possibility that someone has swapped the spring already for a Steeda? (If you could go back to the original spring and get some lighter effort that would be great)

I'll also say that a lot of twin disc clutches have reduced effort over single plate...

Yes. I did buy my car used in 2021.

That might be a possibility that I haven’t thought about it.

If you compare pics of the factory vs aftermarket they look quite different. The factory has thicker and more coils I believe, the aftermarket looks really weak compared to factory.

Also, I've been dreading the day that my knee tells me I have to buy an auto. Even drove a buddy's A10 just to see if I could stand driving it... It wasn't the end of the world

Do the Steeda and be done with it. It was my first mod to my 21 GT and never had a problem with it. Makes the engagement more predictable.

That sucks. Luckily it's my skinny pedal knee with the torn MCL.

I definitely have the one the left! Thanks
If you’d like to try the stock spring, I’ll send you mine free of charge. I switched to the Steeda and the Oem one has been sitting in a box. You’d just have to pay for shipping.

Limber up if you're an old timer, access under the dash is a challenge when making this swap.
