So, I was in a bit of a tight window to get to a wedding, when I turned off the car it said 5 miles to empty, when I turned it back on it said 0, my 2012 v6 would do 30 miles when it said 0 to empty so I wasn't worried, less than 10 miles to the wedding and 5 to the gas station so I could shoot right to the gas station and fill up, or not...

Apparently we have about 13 miles from 0 to dead on our cars, probably around 1 gallon of reserve.

Thanks for taking one for the team. I assume that there were no issues after you filled back up?

Avoid driving too long with low fuel light on. It will burn up your fuel pump.

That sucks that you ran out of gas. I always fill up when I'm close to a station I trust when the light comes on or before long trips.

I haven't ran the Mustang down that far but I know if I run my Raptor to 0 and it hit 0 just as I pulled in I pumped 36.5 gallons into the 36 gal tank so it probably has 1 gal reserve as well. But at 9 mpg that won't get me too far... 0 is Butt Pucker territory!

Thanks for being the guinea pig though :hail:

So what did the display show after you drove for a while starting at 0 miles to empty? Still zero or something else?

At some point, my wife's Subaru will show three dashes ( - - - ) instead of numbers - been there (once). Kind of wondering if there's any consensus on this.

Do what I do, always fill up at half-tank.

I usually fill up when I hit 50 miles to empty. I've only had the low fuel warning pop up on me twice. No reason to run it super low unless you're trying to flush a tank of bad or lower octane gas.
