I’ve got a FBO 18Gt, lowered 1 inch, stop the hop kit, drag springs and vertical links. Car makes 498 to the wheels. I’m getting a staggered setup of 8 1/2 and 10. Fronts I’m going to run Nitto 555’s 255/40/19. Rears I’m going to most likely run 285/35/19’s. What drag radial for the street would you recommend at my power level? Looking to hook off the line. Don’t drive it in the rain or cold weather either. Thanks

Agree with the above. I run the 555Rii on the rear and the matching (tread) 555g2 on the front. on one set of wheels.

At 500 whp, you should be alright with either. You stated you don't drive in rain or cold weather, so that rules out wet weather driving. Does hook off the line mean racing? If so they both need to be heated up for the best off the line performance. There are recent threads discussing these two tires and others.

Racing not so much as getting going if I hit the gas and spin the tires like I’m doing now. Yes I do realize they need to be heated if I’m going to truly race from a dig but I just want more grip off the line on the street than what I’m getting now.

Heck you think I could get away with a really good summer tire at 275/40/19?

Nitto R2 probably won't hook from a dig but should do fine from a roll.

Personally I would run different fronts than G2s. Like literally any other tire up front but I really hate G2s, just a terrible tire imo.

It was worth a shot
Yep we all wish. Unfortunately these mustangs have a hard time hooking. There may be a track tire that is classed as a summer performance tire but it will likely have just as bad treadwear as a drag radial. Might aswell get the drag radial as hooking from a dig is its designed purpose.

Nope, hooking from the dig takes a dedicated tire. If you want good summer tires but going in knowing they aren't going to hook from the dig (none will), I would suggest either the Michelin 4s or the Conti ExtremeSport 02.

I haven't had a problem with them on the front but I am not pushing super hard like on a oval track either. Plus, I try to avoid the rain but have driven with them on the front in the rain but not aggressive. I too am not a huge fan of them but I have them and will keep them on until......well.....until I allow my OCD to not notice different tread patterns, different manufacturer markings etc. from rear to front lol.

That's exactly what I wanted.
Got 305/35/20 555r11's........
No more spinning off the line.
