i tried Michelin PS 295/35 20's on my 10 inch MRR 600 wheels and they were rubbing the liner on the front fender well ever so slightly. for those that have 295's on the front, what brand of tire are you using? i currently have 285/35 20 Michelin AS3's on the front and they do not rub the liner.

You need to put a 1 inch spacer on the front usually.

You need a 30 aspect ratio and then all your issues will go away. 35 isn't the sidewall height. When you move to 20" you have to go down on aspect ratio.

i should have clarified that the rubbing occurs when turning the wheels left or right only. i'm not the spacer type... :)

with 20's the 35 aspect ratio provides very close to same wheel height when using the stock 19 in rims. thanks for the suggestion tho. :)

My 275 oem pp1 rears were rubbing the struts when I put them on the front with anything less than a 1 inch spacer. I have since took the 1 inch spacer off though and put oem pp1 fronts back on, and also actually just today I ordered 185 50 18' tires for 18x5 frontrunners

I think the definition of "it's fine" should be more than "the guy at the tire shop was able to get them to hold air". 295s are too big for a 10 inch wheel. And yes, they will tramline.
I have read various articles on the subject. Some do not recommend 295 tires on a 10 inch rim. Others recommend this set up. The manufacturer (Michelin) lists a 10 inch rim/295 tire as an acceptable fit. I cannot imagine Michelin opening themselves up to lawsuits if the 10 inch/295 setup was not safe. https://tiresize.com/tires/Michelin/Pilot-Super-Sport-295-35R19.htm

Michelin lists 10 inch rims as a recommended rim width for MPSS 295 tires. I read the MPSS are thinner tires for their listed sizes. No where as ridiculous as your examples.
Yeah, on their site, they list it as the lower end of the fitment range, which they show as 10.0-11.0", and if you'll notice, they take a section width measurement of the tire on a 10.5" wheel. It's a touch small for like the optimum contact patch, but if the tire is a bit narrower vs. other brands, it's probably decent fit. I run a 285/35-20 on a 10" wide (up front, ET35) and a 305/35-20 on an 11" in the rear (ET50).

My 285/305 mix in a 35 series is a little taller, but the 30 series was a little shorter - in either case, the front-to-rear ratio is exactly the same as the OEM PP wheels. I'm about ready for tires again, I'll probably stick with 35s again, no rubbing, tucked nicely, fill in the fender gap (on stock suspension), but I have considered some Steeda MagRide springs, a drop, and going to a 30 series.

exact spec setup on my ride; i also like the tucked-look and smaller fender gap.

Yeah, I ran this same set on my '16 with BMR SP080s and only had a few instances of rubbing and that was a full car on an insane patch of road. I think I'm probably going to leave the suspension alone this time, the PP + MR is just so good - and, even though it's not part of the spec, I'll swear this car sits a little lower [?]

Also my preferred tire for the next set is very likely going to be Firehawk Indy 500s, and in these widths and diameters, they only do a 35-series anyway :)

What about 10.5 for 305 tires?

We're not talking some guy at the tire shop, we're talking the guy who makes the tires (for a 295) . Who knows more about tires, Michelin or MiscCarBlog? Now 315 & 325 on a 10" wheel do get into that space. But tire selection is not great in 295 either, another reason to run something a little smaller.

Depends on the tire and aspect ratio. A 305/45R17 on a 10.5 is a great fit. A 305/30R19 on a 10.5 is OK fit but it's a much better fit on a 11" or 11.5".
