Im going to be getting my Mustang's windows tinted tomorrow afternoon at a very reputable shop I've used a few times in my area.
Anyway, i've read up on all the types of film that can be used. Im looking to be around 18 to 20 percent.
How much higher would you think the price would be over the basic film used if I bought the "hybrid" tint?
Are the ceramic, hybrid, or metallic tints worth much or are they mostly gimicky?
Im being quoted 180 for normal film at 18 percent.
And any other things you guys would suggest, please feel free to. I had a 5 percent strip on the top of my windshield, my back two windows at 5 percent, and the sides and back at 20 in a past mustang.
Anyway, thanks in advance for the responses!

The Llumar ceramic is what I've gotten before and it's awesome. My girlfriend has very pale skin and burns even through regular dark tint (UV doesn't get stopped). Ceramic is the only tint I've found that will keep her from getting sunburns in the car.
Also keep in mind that Hybrid or Metallic tints might interfere with phone/gps/radar detector/toll road transponder.

Yeah, I've read about the interference, I'm just not sure how much of a difference it really makes. If you don't nind me asking, how much was it to get a car done in ceramic?
(My stang was quoted at 185 with normal film, 18 percent) any idea what it may be In ceramic?

fk 5 percent. Makes the car look like a drug dealer is driving it.

i went with 30% up front and 18% in the back windows with suntek carbon ceramic, paid $180 for it all. I went with all legal tint because the cops like to pull over anyone they can and check tints/exhaust ( thanks to the street racing "community" here)

looks pretty good imo, i would have gone 18% all around but id prefer to not get tickets over tint lol.

would rather be "mistaken" for a drug dealer with 5% tint than for a woman with ruby red paint.

Never saw the point of payin $200 for window tint and still driving around like youre in a fishbowl..

Whatever you get I'm also in the camp that thinks 5% or anything super dark looks ghetto. I Always went with a nice 'smoked' look, 20% or so.

I agree, I put 20% on every vehicle and think it looks just right.

5% tint all over is just asking to get pulled over by cops. Imho, it looks cheap as hell to do it on the front windows. It's no fun if you always have to open up the windows when you're near cops. The rule of thumb is, if they can see your silhouette, then you're probably good.

Also, I don't know anyone who would like to get constantly pulled over/harassed by cops.

Wrong. If a cop wants to pull you over for tint, they'll pull you over if its 20%, 35%.

If I'm still going to get a ticket for tint, I sure as hell don't want to pay the extra cost and still have people seeing me in my car at stop lights.

35% tint looks like unfinished business to me.

Have put 5% on all my cars and never been pulled over for tint and only had one ticket for tint.

It was $329 for a 4 door sedan. 20% on back and back doors, 35 on front doors. There was a shop that was going to do it for $289 but seemed very shady when I asked about warranty, so I went with the more reputable shop that offered lifetime warranty against peeling, bubbling, and discoloration.
