Remember the 6.2 is putting down 460/460 which is underrated most dynos put it at 485/485.

It gets 30 mpg in V8 and can get Upwards of 40mpg in V4

Runs super cool.

It has power in Any gear and you don't have to wait for the power.

6.2 is now in its second year.

5.0 is 5 years old 435/400 and barely squeezing 25 mpg. Just facts no conspiracy.

Not that I'm arguing that one is better than the other, but cars get MPGs, not engines. If you put a Coyote in a Vette, I bet the MPG would be better than it is in the Mustang.

Probably not.. The 5.0 is larger and I believe heavier then the 6.2 and you would need a giant hood to fit the DOHC design in the Vette. Not to mention it would then throw off its low center.

No one paid these guys to make this list.

1.0L shouldn't have made the list... only just for the fact that you can only get it in a stripped-out Fiesta SE (in the US, at least). Why couldn't Ford put it in the Titanium? I would have ordered one, if that were possible.

Seriously, though... it's a great engine, just vastly underutilized.

+1

The coyote is only slightly larger and slightly heavier than the LT, but it's much smaller in displacement. Put it in the C7 which weighs a whole lot less than an S550 and you'd most likely see better fuel efficiency.

Well he's not incorrect. Not only is the LT1 more compact and more powerful. It allows for a lower mounting point, and lower center of gravity compared to a Coyote. It produces it's power very, very low down, off idle torque is over 300 lbs/ft.

I'm not taking anything away from the Coyote, I can't wait to get my '15 delivered. But the LT1 is a much more advanced and interesting engine.

*Edit: I stand correct on weight, I'm not used to engines being lighter than GM LSx/LTx's.

Wait a minute... How is a 429lbs Coyote heavier than a 465lbs LT1?

The 'Yote has an 8 quart oil capacity too but no DI (19lbs gain in the LT1 vs. LS3). A DOHC should be wider but shorter than most OHV V8's of a larger size. Both deck heights are almost similar.

The 'Yote can lose 8-10lbs with PTWA as well. The cost of a Coyote is a bit cheaper than an LT1 too.

More powerful..yeah I'll give that to you.

More advanced? Debatable. One is a pushrod V8 taking to about the limits, the other is a TI-VCT DOHC V8.

I agree with this but also want to add that a big part of the GM's fuel efficiency is the super tall .50 overdrive.
