I'm going to run (4) 19 X 10 +45 wheels on my car and I want the perfect 19" tire selection with no rubber bands or stretching for tires.

I punched these numbers in this visualizer but I'm open for any other suggestions.

I want a little taller sidewall tire in the rear vs the front but I don't want balloon sidewall tires either so any input would be appreciated.

The one disadvantage to 305/35-19 is not many tires to choose from.

I have 295/30's on 19x10 and 305 is pushing it in terms of contact patch IMO, but it will fit. I run squared 295's.

If you are going squared 19x10's, have you thought of a squared tire setup? If you want staggered, why not 10 front 11 rear?

Thanks Daltron for the reply. I already bought the wheels. They're 19x10 +45 on all fours.

I'm looking for just the right sidewall height on front and a tad bit more on the rear vs the front with the widest I can go on the rear.

Any more input?????

I'm considering doing the MRR M350 graphite wheels in a 19x10 squared setup. I'm going with either 275/40/19, 275/35/19 or 285/35/19 tires if I choose those wheels. I've seen pictures of S550s with all those tire sizes and they look fine to me. It'll probably just boil down to price and availability, but I'm leaning towards the 285/35 size.

My OEM Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires are 27.2" in diameter and I want my new summer tires to be similar to that...

275/40 tires: 27.7" diameter

285/35 tires: 26.9" diameter
275/35 tires: 26.6" diameter

Same here. I use the same wheel-size.com site a lot while forming my wheels+tires plan.

Diameter
275/40 is a "reference" tire (for OEM diameter) to me. So I think 275/35 is too small in diameter, and has short sidewall.

Width
I think 285 on 10" is ideal, 275 is OK. 285 on 9.5" is a bit puffy, but offers a little more curb protection.

275 runs ~$40 less on average than 285. IOW, $160 more just for that extra 1cm of contact patch. For this reason I am reconsidering 19x9.5" wheels that I had previously rejected. (275 fits well on 9.5".)

Conclusion
275/40 on 9.5" wide is a good fit, ideal diameter, and cost effective.
285/35 on 10" fits well, a bit smaller diameter, and costs a little more.

Stagger
I have started looking at tires for 19x11" rims for rear wheels. Not many summer or A/S to find at Tire Rack. Curious.

I have 275/40 on 19x10 +45 offset on all 4 corners. It really fills out the wheel wells, a lot. I have 5mm spacers on all 4 as well. Probable didn't need them on the back, but I'm a bit ocd with stuff like that, so since they're on the front, they went on the back too.

what do your calculations say about a square 275/40/19 with 19x10 wheels?

I think 275/40 is ideal for 19x9.5 with no issues or spacers.

285 or 295 for 10" wide. If you want larger you can do a staggered set up. Remember different manufacturers make different style sidewalls. Some look more stretched or bubbly than others. Not by much, just a thought.
If you want a larger sidewall in the rear 285/35 might be the best for up front.

I am not sure of your question. So I will take a stab at what I think you might be asking.

Rim width is taken inside the flanges, and since I don't know the typical flange thickness, I can't say what the overall rim width is. But let's assume the two flanges add 15-20mm to the inside width.

10" = 254mm + 20mm = 264mm Overall

285mm tire then extends past the flange by 10mm at both inside and outside of the wheel. A 275 tire would offer only 5mm of curb protection. Theoretically the 285 on 9.5" would ride a little softer, while a 275 on 10" would have a harder ride. (This same experiment with rim and tire width is easily felt with bicycle wheels.)

My conclusion
I am starting to think that it is better for me to choose the style of wheel that I like best, regardless of if it only comes in 9.5" or 10" wide. Because then 275 and 285mm tires will fit either wheel close enough. This gives me more choices of tires, including when it comes time for replacement.

But again, optimum tire size for 11" rim has almost nothing available. ?
