What makes you think it's sync 3 in the video, it hard to make out, but it looks like it's on the current nav screen.

So clearly we have a Sync 3 in a 2015 Mustang- not an employee either, this is MRT's car. Question is now how.
Personally, I think the "can't upgrade to Sync 3" is bullshiz and a ploy to sell 2016 cars vs. people on the fence to order a 2015. Magically when 2015 orders officially stop and 16 start someone will find out you can magically upgrade (whether it's software or the whole head unit idk). I'm sure it's not cheap regardless.

Going off that thread, I don't think it's inconceivable they could flash sync 3 on that type of set up. Idk the actual difference in processing power/memory between '15 and '16 though and how it would effect running the upgraded software

I would be just fine with MFT if it didn't lag and the voice recognition software worked better. Is sync 3 really that much better in a majority of people's opinions?

It actually doesn't really matter if SYNC 3 will actually be better than MFT out the box. The key feature is that SYNC3 is Android Auto compatible; and AA is certainly going to be better than 90% of the infotainment systems out there; most of the previews and reviews basically say as much. And you can judge for yourself by checking out the videos of it running. Also, SYNC3/Android Auto can be constantly updated while MFT won't really get much better than it currently is.
Also, Waze is being developed to run on Android Auto, and that's a huge feature.

I'd like to take credit for putting a different OS or firmware on the Ford my touch system, but unfortunately I cannot . That is how we received the vehicle from Ford for our SEMA project we did nothing with the sync system as far as recalibrating or uploading new firmware .
