Mach 1 is coming next fall as a 2018 (refresh) Model, ecobeast motor based off the GT, but less expensive parts, engine numbers won't be available until extensive testing is over (July 2017 est) no GT500, but the 350 will most likely do another 2 year run to close out the 6G, back to the  ...crumbs, follow we will:D
I'd be shocked if this were true. That would be one short and strange platform life. So 2015-2019 with a mostly redesigned platform and only one S550 HiPo version with an engine they wont put in any other car. That would also put any GT500 at 2021 earliest since they won't be coming out with it on the first model year of any new platform and that leaves them without any true straight line competitor for..... 5years?

Wonder if the new 5.2 aluminator is a preview of things to come for the GT500? Obviously if FI it would need a lower CR, but there is a lot to like about that motor.

Huh? I was posing a scenario that I said I would be shocked to see. Go back and read the post I was quoting.

Of course we can see a Mach 1 and GT500 at the same time. I think we will for the 2018 MY. I just don't agree with Mustangchief that the 350 will continue until the end of the S550's life. I'm betting on a 3 year model run.

I'm thinking the next gt500 will be in the 725 to 760 hp range with mag ride, have a very agressive front end and will utilize lots of carbon fiber and aluminum to keep weight under 3800 lbs. I don't think it will handle as well as the GT350 but it will be so much faster on a straight it will make up for its corner losses. I imagine it will be faster around a track than a gt350 but more sloppy however factory ten second car in the quarter.

At least that is what I hope it might be.

No reason it can't dominate on track AND Strip. Won't have the same heat soak issues as a supercharger.

I hope so. I had zero interest in the GT350 from the get go, as I am a straight line speed guy. To hell with turns. :D

I second that as I'm a light to light/quarter-mile gear-head. Ford needs to produce a Hellcat killer IMO. It's all about the H/p & torque numbers to me!

I'm on board with you guys. They can't bring a 750HP Mustang soon enough for the meat eaters.

We are almost two months into 2016 and no word from Ford about a GT500. Maybe there is no GT500 in the works.
