So back in October I changed the factory fill in my car to some Mobil 1 5w30 and installed my Mishimoto catch-can, the car had approximately 6000 kms on it.

After 1000 or so miles my catch can caught this

Well my job had me driving all over Germany and I ended up doing an extended oil change interval in April at 19202 kilometers.:eyebulge: Emptied the CC around 4 times

I decided to splurge on some Royal Purple, i never believed the hype but the low calcium and high zinc are good LSPI protection.

I checked my Can today at over 23000 kms and this is all I found

much better looking and far less in volume.
I'm sold.

Yeah I had Mobil one for my first oil change and my catch can also caught quite a bit. I noticed less when I switched away from it.

Aren't we suppose to run 5w20?

That's crazy how much oil got through. Now got me thinking if I should add a catch can. I just switched to amsoil signature series 5w20. Love it. Made my valvetrain a lot quieter!

The NOACK value of an oil is the rate of evaporation when an oil gets hot (to put it simply). In theory, if you switch from an oil with a high NOACK to a low NOACK, you should see a difference in your catch can.

Good news and thanks for your very practical demonstration of the benefits of using Royal Purple motor oils. I've been using RP for years and very satisfied. From racing cars to daily drivers...RP has performed well in my very hot Texas location.

Yeah the engine really seems to like it, what the pictures fail to show is the grit like stuff the catch-can caught with the mobil 1, it just isn't there in the RP, also as you can see far less water. I ran 4 tanks of E30 on this oil fill and was datalogging for Adam Tune+ I was abusing the crap out of it!

Royal Purple commands a premium price because it is a premium product. After working for an energy company for 30 years which produced motor oils for their brand, as well as many others, I was very impressed with how the Royal Product is manufactured and why. I toured their facility and immediately switched to Royal Purple. Hope it works for other Mustangers!

Fram though?
Toss that Fram... not worth risking!
Fram is all they have on base, For the first oil change I found an AC delco that worked but that's the only time I saw it on the shelf, I haven't had an issue in 20 years using Fram. That being said, if you have some links proving they are inferior I'll order my next one online,
