I emailed Dakota at Lund.

Their tunes start to retard timing at 145f IAT2.

So now we know :)

A little iat2 porn! The company that makes the Killer chiller is a pain to deal with but man does it work especially for the weather here in FL! Second pic was taken first but was blurry.

I thought the IATs with that were close to freezing? I also might be completely wrong

I have never experienced iat2’s with the killer chiller any where near freezing unless it was actually freezing outside… maybe I’m completely wrong and mine isn’t working correctly 🤷‍♂️ .

Let’s think logically though… even if the killer chiller did get the coolant to freezing by the time it goes by the radiator, through the underhood and by the engine block it is going to heat back up some because as you have probably found out by now the engine and Roush produce a ton of heat. So by the time it gets to the intercooler it self it is no where near freezing. That’s just my logical thinking and like I said above I could be very wrong.

@Fx2beast any thoughts on this matter above?
I took a screenshot of one of your runs from your YouTube vids it was 91 degrees out when you did the pull just to make sure I wasn’t crazy.

I just thought that I saw one of these kits with shots of IATs at around 32F. I could have misunderstood what I saw. What were ambient temps when you took those pics?

It was 86 degrees out when I took the pics and car had been running for around 15-20 mins just normal driving.

The KC website does show a video of a coolant tank that the temp is reading 2 degrees but I can’t speak to the conditions etc etc.

I don't have a dog in this fight but it seems to me that Proshop's logic is sound. I don't see how iat could possibly be near freezing....unless you are running here in Minnesota in winter.

No usually the coolant fluid temp is around that low of temperature. But as it goes through the system and comes out your blower there's no way it's going to be freezing temp at that point. But proshops screenshot shows where I'm doing pulls in 90° weather and my iat2 doesn't even touch 135 which is when timing gets pulled on my tune. So at the end of the day as long as it's not reaching that temp during your pulls that's all that really matters. Never had pulled timing racing all summer long.

All in all I spent last summer running around with just the stage 2 upgraded heat exchanger and iat2’s sucked! So anything that will help them be below or well below the temperature that cause timing to be pulled was well worth the money to me. Would it be awesome to see the temps at freezing HELL YES but I don’t think that is realistic unfortunately.

No dog in this fight anymore but with as many Roush 2650’s running around you would think there would be some data out there on how good or bad the Max Cooling Kit or the upgraded intercooler brick works in keeping IAT2’s down?

Trader!! 🤣🤣

While I’m sure the max cooling does help some especially with the under hood temps is the $2200 price tag worth it in the long run. I myself am on the quest now of trying to keep the temps under the hood down which means investing in some mods to do so and hopefully they work because they are cheaper than the $2200 price point of the max cooling system.

As for the intercooler brick I only know of one in existence that @MiDiablo has (sorry Josh to throw you in the mix 😁) and will be testing when he has time to since he runs a very busy shop and business. Until then we can only speculate and ponder what effects it will have on iat2’s and once again is the cost worth the reward.

I'm just here to learn. I agree, I hope that advances are made so that cooling is not the boogeyman man for these blowers as much as it is now. I'd like to be able to run 9s fairly easily on pump gas. I'm sure a pulley swap a few sizes down, some meth for temp, and a little boostane would get there. But I feel like I'm always going to want a little more.

Who can blame you they are nice cars and have so much damn potential or you can leave them as they are and still enjoy a super fast car.
