Hi everyone,

I need help with my supercharged (with Whipple) 2019 GT350. I got it recently with the supercharger already installed. I took it to a mechanic for diagnostics and a Lund Racing tune. The car passed the 93 octane tune successfully, but unfortunately, the engine blew out on the E85 tune (rod through block). Luckily, the mechanic's insurance stepped in and covered the engine swap. So, they swapped the engine and moved the supercharger and its components to the new engine. They also applied the 93 octane tune from the old engine.

I took the car back home yesterday, and by the time I got home, the check engine light came on. The mechanic said it's a "tuning thing." I don't really know what's going on, but my guess is that the new engine swap introduced a lot of offsets, making the previous tune no longer suitable. I can't get a proper new tune before I break in the engine. It's showing "system too lean" in two banks and "misfire on startup." Additionally, I've noticed quite strong bucking at RPMs lower than 2k. I don't want to damage the new engine, so I will not drive the car until I have a plan. Maybe the Lund Racing folks can help me with a mild tune for the break-in period, and we can re-tune it later when the engine is ready. Alternatively, I could find a professional in the Chicago area and carefully take the car there for proper treatment.

Thank you for any advice and recommendations.

A new engine didn’t make it run lean. It is possible a (diy) crank relearn can help with the misfire code. There’s no such thing as a breakin tune. If the maf, fuel pressure, and injectors are the same and the tune didn’t change then it should work unless there’s some mechanical issue like a vacuum leak, dirty maf,, fuel pump failure, etc.

I'd ship that car to the nearest GOOD mustang shop that can disgnose and tune it, with experience, vs what sounds like some rando 'mechanic'

Hey everyone, any recommendations for good Mustang shops around the Chicago area? I'm talking to Wengerd right now and hope he can help me with tuning and any extra work if needed to make the car perfect.

Also, my friend recommended https://fluidmotorunion.com, but I didn't find anyone who mentioned them on the forum. At this point, I would like to take my car to a facility where it can be properly fixed and tuned.

Mike Post @ DynoTuneMP is top notch. His shop is in Hampshire. A bit of a ride depending where you are in the Chicago area, but worth it If you need a trustworthy shop.

I talked to Mike Post, and he is booked until late July btw. He said it's not tune-related and thinks it might be a vacuum leak or an exhaust leak somewhere, which is pretty much what engineermike said above. I'm talking back to the original shop, and they should fix that under the insurance claim opened for the engine swap.
