We have all heard the pros and cons on this 40 degree deal with these tires. I am considering driving my car home today right at 40 degrees from the dealer I am inclined to do it but the dealer is being careful as it has happened to them before with the same tires and car off the transport.

Anybody have a definitive on this?

I was driving in below freezing temperatures this winter. The car was fine unless it was wet out (or slush).

I was dumb. Couldn't wait.

That being said, how long is your drive? If it is dry and you aren't being an asshat you will be fine....probably.

I drove my R daily from Jan-July 2016 on the Cup2's with temps in the 30-40's in Jan-Feb to much warmer temps in spring and summer. Zero issues.

Thanks all, It will be 45 degrees, sunny and dry at 4pm. Coming out of the dealer at 65 degrees and going 8 miles. She is coming home...

Congrats!
For 8 miles I'd drive it home if the weather was 32 degrees :)

Drive it often below 40. Just don't expect 1.0g handling. Judicious application of vector and power is all that is needed.

True, good to point that out. I actually missed that.

Just too much doom and gloom on here lately. I doubt the car will self destruct on the ride home.

Hope I did not mislead the OP.

Ford does not recommend operating the Sport Cup 2 or the Super Sports at or below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

^^^^ This. And Michelin also said to me directly, that using >any< of their extreme summer tires in average temps below 45 degs can crack them.

This thread will most likely bring out the "experts" who say they've never had trouble driving these tires in the cold. I will take their word for it. Still, I'm going on Ford and Michelin's expert opinions.

Can, not will. I don't claim to be an expert, just providing feedback regarding my personal experience.
