But will it get a plywood splitter?

AS's Plywood Splitter is known about in certain circles at UCSD thanks to my son spreading the legend. RIP AS.

Well, you can't really teach a moderately old dog new tricks. I'm not the only one to do it, and if you spend enough time at the track, you'll find out that others do it in a pinch when plans don't go to plan.

I will have to figure out some ways to lighten it though, as a full 4x8 sheet of 1/2 birch or 15/32 particle board is decently heavy, and the 1" and 1 1/4" steel piping I used to mount it and the steel bar re-enforcements I used probably come in close to triple or quadruple the weight of what an aftermarket carbon fiber splitter would cost... but it also costs me about $75 to build one, about 1/20th of what the CF costs.

I am going to spend a little more time focusing on aero though, trying to get an even better balance, as our class restrictions somewhat have us all on similar grip with tire limitations, so the only other real differences aside from driver and power/weight would probably be gearing and aero.

Short progress update :

TL;DR:

Cause new day is dawning, new ways of performing, brainstorming,
I write and watch the night turn to morning
Strange how that just came on and is entirely relevant. After much waiting, my back is finally no longer in pain, all those prayers apparently paid off, and almost a year to the day.

Lexan in and secured,

Bumper is now supported, and I've got so much more room for aero/ducting activities!

Next up is all that stripping and painting the interior.

Here's the not -- the new ECU I want isn't coming out until December, and while it will support DI and PI, it won't right out of the gate. Depending on how long that gap is, I'll have to figure out whether it's worth the sunk costs/time to switching to PI setup, only to likely switch back and likely wire up another engine harness?

Got my heart set on a transmission, and I guess I can throw it in, get a custom length driveshaft, make a custom trans mount, and then a bunch of test and tune time to dial the timing, shift-points, and pressures in.

I mean, yeah, I could go with factory stuff and be normal, but where's the fun in that?

Ugh... and now we wait.
