I do hope Ford takes notice of this and have us enable them!
They wouldn't have switched them off if the EU permitted them to have them.
I believe they just didn't install the LEDs inside the case. They didn't change the whole healight. So we just add 3 stripes of LED inside the case and connect them to the electric part on AUTO.

If the internal led light kit is missing, I'm afraid it would NOT be so easy to find the led's kit as a spare part.

I'm afraid we'll have to buy US headlights (along with taillights) .

Some chit chat with Ford US customer service...confirming what we are all afraid off.

Can you find out why European mustangs will not have the front Tri-Bar LED as DRL ? Many Euro cars from Mecredes, Peugeot, Volvo have 3 seperate LEDS as DRL. This is part of the mustang Icon and most of Euro guys on the forum who ordered a car are looking for an aftermarket mod, modification to fix this. We are kind of missing a part of the Icon...

Thx

Hey
I've sent this questions up the chain. I'll let you know when I hear back. Just to clarify, are you stating that the Euro Mustang doesn't have the Tri-Bar lights, or that they just aren't DRL's?

Jeff

-------------------

The Tri-bars are physically present but seem not be used at all, no DRL, no other setup...
ALWAYS OFF...

Thx for checking

----------------

From the plant, I was advised that the driving lamps will be your DRLs on European models. There is no disclosure available as to why the tri-bar lights are not available as DRLs in Europe though.

Guys, DO NOT expect to find the truth with written evidence in public....(through conversations, chats, forums etc)

Only if you have a colleague inside Ford factory.

It is obvious that EU manufacturers want to underestimate a foreign MENACE with this price.

The crucial question is: with or without the led unit inside?

In the post above It states without lights.

As in non functioning.

I don't REALLY need the front tri-bars as DRL's (though it would be nice). I would be happy if they simply came on as part of the regular headlights, with a lower intensity if needed, but don't just have them do NOTHING.

Not really, they said "why the tri-bar lights are not available as DRLs"
They could be available, but not as DRLs.

I just sent a mail to my dealer ... it's a long shot, but perhaps he can come up with a sensible excuse.

Did someone not post that they didn't meet euro laws on the direction that they projected light? Ie it spread too much to the sides and not enough forward?

Or am I just confused and making that up?

Yeah but my understanding of that was that the light was still projected out forwards where the gills projected out to the side.
Could be a possible answer.

I have been paying attention to that detail. It is true that all other cars I have seen, no matter how creative they were with their lights, the DRL's are (nearly) invisible when viewed from the side.

That said, it's not that hard to make LEDs that have a mostly forward beam.

The Renault Clio has them near the middle, 4 leds on each side... been paying attention to drl's lately and noticed the weirdest combinations. Things you otherwise won't notice if you don't look out for it...
