As a new owner, this is my first mustang and turbo and RWD car. It is a stick. Is there any tips or tricks or information I should know to keep the car running well, etc.? I've read the owners manual and read the forums quite a bit.

This is what I have so far. Please add anything useful that I missed.

  • Do not use summer tires below 40 degrees, get a dedicated winter set
  • Don't accelerate too much in a high gear as it can cause LSPI
  • Take out clutch assistance spring

That's basically it. I will update the list as people add to it.

So far, I love my car! :ford:

Check for TSB's(technical service bulletins) from Ford for any warranty work needed. Keep up on your maintenance. Drive it like you stole it. :headbang:

Just do a lot of reading and get yourself educated. Since you have the 4 cylinder read the EB threads to learn more about your motor and future modifications if you plan on any http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=67 Good luck and welcome to your first Mustang!!! :headbang:

congrats breh! I hope to get mine soon! Post pics of it man! Enjoy it, im on the same boat. First Mustang, & RWD. But these cars are so advanced that basic cleaning, maintenance, and common sense is all it takes to keep these going smooth. Again CONGRATS!

If it's pictures you want, it's pictures you shall get

It has over 120 miles on it now. Im becoming much smoother, but am seriously contemplating taking out the clutch assistance spring.

Do it, stock is the worst clutch feel I've every tried.

Lspi is a veloster turbo issue or gdi engine issue. Not a ford. Ford knows how to avoid it especially on focus st. Also don't be afraid to accelerate lol it's a mustang!

You can use those tires below 40 but your in a snow area so that sucks your need different tires yay for living in south!

I seriously don't understand the gripes you guys in the US are having with the clutch. It's the smoothest and arguably the easiest clutch I've ever had.

Here's a great thread to read about Ford and GTDI:

Congrats! Great looking car. I too have EB PP but a vert. Love it! I haven't done so, but many in the EB group installed a catch-can as early as they could. Also haven't done so yet, due to some concern over the warrantee, but a tune is a great addition for this car. As earlier advised, do a deep dive into the 2.3 forums. Great car and great community. BTW, one addition I did do is my "2.3T" badge - great conversation starter. Enjoy your car - tons of fun as is.

I'd guess you would have to remove the spring to understand the point. The clutch will feel more natural with graduated pressure as the pedal stroke is taken. It results in a more natural feel or more predictable during gear changes.
