Since when are Fords numbers on the conservative side...and what in the world would make you think that?
It has added DI and a bump in compression. 0-60 (IIRC) went from 4.6 to under 4 seconds. Thats a huge jump.

What I meant by conservative wasn't so much that its making more peak power, but there is likely a huge bump in area under the curve across the board on a dyno. We aren't seeing the full picture.

Exactly!
I was out to buy a 2017 last year when the news of the refresh happened. I waited, I liked, I'm waiting.
Sure the cost is up a bit, but you get more, you pay more.
Do you know they are offering 72 months/0% financing on 2017 mustangs right now? I bought the 2016 last year at this time because they were offering 60 months/0%. Saved me over $3k in interest and the 2016 was cheaper than the 2017.

Plus I love free money. :)

Agree, we aren’t seeing the full picture…and there isn’t enough data to determine if the MY18 will be as mod friendly as the current.

As for are under the curve….the MY18 will likely have a better curve without a doubt. That alone doesn’t help with 0-60 times. It does however allow the transmission/s to be geared differently to accommodate. My guess is, the feel will be right on part to what a PP2 puts out.

With that said, a decent chunk (at least half) of the .6 second 0-60 reduction is likely from the 10 speed transmission. While 25hp is nothing to sneeze at, let’s not pretend the MY18 will be setting dyno records across the country.

Nope no records. We're just catching up to the Challanger & Camaro in straight line performance.

I agree. Under 4 seconds will likely only be with a 10 speed in drag mode, with a PP.

It's confirmed to require the 10-speed auto, and drag mode. It's suggested that PP is needed, presumably for the Michelins, but not directly confirmed.

What isn't confirmed is how to get drag mode: is it part of Premium's drive selection modes, part of PP, or something else.

That offer ended 7/31

As of today, the interest rate offer has changed and is variable based on location. In MN, its 1.9/60 or $2000 cash back, yet in St. Peter FL its 1.9/60 or $3000. So I'm sure it depends on inventory and sales history.

My son is looking at 2017 GT with performance package. It is advertised at $27K. He thought he wanted an 18 until I pointed out the price difference. He will be getting a 17.

A Ford salesman of 22 years told me the other day that 50% of the dealers Mustang sales through the years have been for premium V6s. The Eco boost premium sales did not make up for the loss of the premium V6s for this eastern Connecticut dealer. He also questioned want Ford was doing with the 18 pricing.

Ford timed the refresh nearly perfectly. I would say that the slightly delayed 2018 Mustang was worth the additional time. I don't care what your product is or how great it is selling, approaching the 36 month mark, sales will decrease by 30% on between 24-36 months.

The Camaro? Not looking good.

People that want a premium V6 are probably buying Challengers now. In terms of content for the money, they are unbeatable.

I was informed that total production for the 2017 Camaro is 116,000 as of right now. This is according to Camaro6. There are around 150,000 S550's made each year and sold to RETAIL. Annual target is usually under 18% of production.

Mustang retail sales overseas have increased 30-40%, retail sales in the US are approaching Overseas sales.

Mustang Fleet sales are typically 18% annually, Rental contracts are fulfilled around April/May but can vary.

The Mustang sell far more retail than the Camaro worldwide AND, overall within its respective generation. Over 450,000 S550's have been sold since 2015. Fleet here in the US destroys the Camaro. The S550 makes up over 75% of the 2 door sport coupes offered by rental companies. It is no achievement for the Camaro, simply put, the demand for 2 door sports coupes shrank from S197 to S550. The Mustang has a monopoly on Rental Cars which pays for the workers wages and cost.

By the time Spring rolls around, the '18 will be moving just as quick as the '15.

Seems like they cost a couple grand more than Mustangs to me.

So:

Mustang == 6,206
Challenger = 5,333
Camaro == 4,713

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a surge in Mustang sales for August.

People on the fence about 2018's now have enough information to decide... either put in an order for 2018 (expensive) or get a 2017 hopefully with some decent price incentives from dealers.

The thing is... unless you want to get the 10-speed automatic, I don't see a big reason to "upgrade" to a 2018. +25hp is always appreciated, better manual transmission, better rubber, BUT most agree worse looks, and new engine technology is always a little bit of a risk.

I'm back & forth with what I want to do... either get a 2018 with 10-speed auto, so its a more functional vehicle in my family (wife could drive it too). When I need her 7 passenger SUV for carpool (she hates my truck and can't drive my '17 mustang). Or just get a Sporty SUV to replace my mustang.
Teach your wife how to drive a stick and keep the 17 GT. That's what I did with mine and now she loves driving even more. :cheers:
