IKON GT500 Hood + Decal + QL-50

Been a while since I made a post but I'm finally doing a couple things. One, my bumper had the license plate holes drilled out in it so I wasn't thrilled about that and two, I'm finally switching to the GT500 hood. Fitment on the IKON hood is great. I'm in the process of finding the right body shop to deal with to do all of it.

Auto Design Shop does a decal for the Mach 1 for a GT500 hood with the measurements. I'll be ordering this decal and they sent me these measurements. I measured my hood with the following measurements and sent it to them:

Top of hood is 23.5 inches wide
Top of hood vent is 22.75 inches wide
Bottom of hood vent is 19.5 inches wide
Bottom hood vent to end of decal is 13 inches long
Bottom most decal piece is 11.5 inches wide

Here is what my car looks like right now with minimal parts on since I know it's getting painted:

More to come as this progresses but I'm at a holding point until I can get it into a shop.

Here's another members ( @traxiii ) Mach1 with a similar hood and a slightly modified aftermarket decal. Looks stunning!

Almost done. I just picked it up from the body shop. QL-50 is installed and bumper and hood painted. I go back in two weeks for the decal.

I color matched the hood vent with the spoiler/mirrors in that anthracite like color. They perfectly matched it.

I measured the decal to follow the lines. It should flow with the shape of the hood. I sent the measurements to the decal shop and they made it based on that.

Trust me, this is one of my biggest things I want done right. I even want it to travel like the OEM one to where it sits about 1 inch from the bumper too.

Exactly, and it needs to be wider than the vent. The vent should fall within the matte finish part of the stripe.

What is the weight of this hood compared to stock? Also, how about strength and quality of the hood? Does it move around when you’re driving down the road like the stocker does? What do you find the pluses and minuses to be thank you

It's a lot lighter than stock because it's aluminum and not fiberglass. I didn't notice the hood moving on my drive home but I also didn't go that fast. My hood shouldn't move with the latches working.

Did you get a new/different bumper? If so, then why?
How well did the body shop match the gray paint?

Not doing the trunk or roof yet.

Same bumper but no drilled out license plate holes.

Perfect match. Even my hood vent is a perfect match to the spoiler. He said they're all Ford colors so it was simple.

The entire job with paint, hood install, Quiklatch install was $3000. That price includes me going back to have the decal done once the paint gasses out. Extremely reputable shop.
