Those of you running at high elevations (4000-6500ft), did you pulley down 1 or 2 sizes?

I'm running a Novi2200 (paxton) and at the moment, I'm using a 3.8 sized pulley. I'm trying to decide on using either a 3.48 or 3.6. I'm using 91 octane fuel. This car is mostly my DD except during winter.

All I'm looking to do is compensate for elevation pressure loss. I'm at around 6 psi with the standard airbox and a K&N filter. My initial concern was increasing boost on 91 but our fuel is actually pretty good.

Those of you running a paxton or vortec, what pulley do you run and with what fuel?

Did you have to run a smaller belt using 3.48 due to tension issues at high RPM?

Didn't they take your elevation into account when you ordered? I'm in Colorado and when I got my h.o. kit the standard pully is 4", they sent me 3.85 I believe.

Also remember you can get away with lower octane at altitude.

The kit shipped with 3.8. The option to run an alternative pulley was available but as a selection for additional coin

I just fired up my 2200 tonight. Went from the 3.8" pulley and straight to a 3.33". Hoping this will get me 10-11#s. A new belt was sent for the smaller pulley, but the belt that came with the kit fit at the moment. Not sure if it will stretch out of spec. I cant tell you boost, until I get the tune dialed in.

Going with super for the moment. At our higher elevations, the 91 is just as good as 93 at the sea level and the thin air allows more timing. Going to upgrade the fuel system when I do the oil pump gears and go with a e85 tune eventually.

How much boost are you making with the 3.85 pulley? I'm around 4500ft and my 3.85 pulley is making close to 7lbs.

I'm eventually going to drop down to a 3.5 pulley to hopefully achieve 10-11#s.

Im at 4600 ft. I have not checked my psi yet but when I ordered I asked for 9psi at my altitude. If it's only making 7 psi I will not be happy.

Elevation around 5000' robs abot 2-3#s in my experiences. Each pulley size down adds 2#s in my experience. Do the math for yourself and order what you need.

I believe procharger says every .1 in pulley size is 1 psi.

I keep changing my mind but Im going to settle on a 3.6 pulley and JLT intake. That should keep the car conservative and then i can focus on putting that power down. Im having trouble locating the pulley part number on beefs site.

I am going from my experience over the years. But, that goes pretty much of what I said. Most pulleys do not drop .1 in size. Paxton goes from 3.80 to 3.60, 3.33. So that should net 2#s each size down.

3.33 at normal elevation will be about 13psi

I lose about 2.5 psi on my old S-trim from 5k ele to sea level, but thats also going from a 6-7k DA to 0 or minshaft conditions

Sounds like should be 10-11#s at my elevation then.
