I'm not saying it's bad, its just less than I had hoped. I was hoping to be comparable to stg2 6060 for a bit less money and easier convenience.
It's a tough call a TH 400 or Glide will be pretty much bullet proof but for me since I don't take this car to the race track I would rather keep it a manual for the fun factor and maintain my overdrive. Since the TR 6060 is becoming more scarce to find for a price that makes it practical to build, the only options left are the Magnum XL or the Built MT82. When JPC ran the Magnum XL they pushed it pretty hard and it easily handled 1000 rwhp with a 700 ft lb torque rating, so I'm confident that this new MT 82 gear set if it's anywhere close to 900 ft lbs will be more than enough. I don't want any part of that Magnum XL due to input shaft issues.

Yes. I talked to him about it before going th400. He said he rates at 1300+ hp but has a few 1500+ cars beating on them with no issue.
Is this rating for the stage 2 6060 and if so do you know what it's torque rating was ?

Yes stage 2, I do not have a tq rating. But I told him we will be shooting for 1500+ and asked if my 6060 would hold, this was his response,
"Hmm it depends on the torque level. I think you have a stage 1. A stage 2 I wouldn't be concerned. I have customers putting 1600 thru the stage 2"

I wrestled with the same thing recently. For 2g more which could be one rebuild later I could have gotten a th400. I even expressed that to Calimer. He said he has not had a stg2 die so I'm okay going with his manual in a lighter car with less power than that Shelby running it. But since this will be a street raced car primarily I'm not too concerned with the stg2 since I backed my goals down to 1050-1100whp (160-163 trap)

I'll pay a premium for a 6060 if I must. Jpc also did that in like a 3200-3300lb car if I recall right. Removing weight helps it live longer as I'm sure you're aware. I'd rather have an overbuilt trans then maybe blow up billet mt82. If it can be proven it'll hold without shitting the bed where I'm going and I haven't gotten to the trans part of my build yet I may try it.

Sorry OP this kind of got off track.

When I spoke with Calimer he said the TR 6060 is pretty much dead in the water as he was getting cores from ford that had been replaced under warranty, which were from GT 500's and the river has run dry. I have high hopes for this new billet MT 82 gear set will just have to wait and see what the power potential is, if a stock MT 82 can handle 700 - 800 I'm sure the billet set will hold at 1000 - 1200 rwhp. De railing a thread is very easy as 1 person asks a non related question and then it spreads like wild fire, although I don't think it's a big deal as there is some very useful information being shared that many can benefit from.

Tr6060s are in different cars from what ive researched. May not be too bad. I'm still unclear on what little things we may need to change though

2005–2009 Saleen S281 Extreme
2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 (remote mount shifter with dual braces and single linkage)
2008–2013 Chevrolet Corvette
2008-2016 Dodge Viper SRT-10
2008–2016 Ford Falcon
2008–present Holden Special Vehicles Range (From at least June)
2009–present Dodge Challenger
2009 Pontiac G8 GXP
2007–2015 Cadillac CTS-V
2010-14 Ford Shelby GT500
2010–present Chevrolet Camaro SS
2012–present Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
2013–present Gen-F HSV
2015–present Chevrolet SS
2016–present Cadillac ATS-V

Great info thanks guys. Recall most failures on the mt82 happen on the shifts blowing gears to bits. Once in gear there were little to no failures that I know of. Billet gears should eliminate the glass shattering gear shift issues, and so while the torque rating is going up, the billet gears are also fixing a more prevalent issue. I don't see why this new gear set shouldn't fix the issues for 95% of mt82 guys.

None bolt up, the actual housing is cast to the specific motor

Not a genuine tr6060, they are model specific. A magnum is the same trans with a changeable bell housing. The XL version extends the tail of the trans so the shifter is in the stock location.

Calimer had mentioned that the MT 82 in 2011 - 2014 model years had softer gear teeth and the 2015 and up had harder teeth which are prone to breakage as they don't flex.
