Does anyone know what mufflers are used on the Ford Racing Touring and Sport Catback systems and the Borla S-type Catback? I've heard that the S-type mufflers are used on both the Borla Touring (with resonator) and Borla S-type. Thanks!

Borla System:

Borla Touring Catback = Borla sport muffler with resonator mid pipe
Borla Sport Catback = Borla sport muffler with x-pipe

FRPP by Borla:

FRPP Borla Touring = Touring muffler with x-pipe
FRPP Borla Sport = Sport muffler with x-pipe

The main difference here is that the FRPP systems don't use a resonator for the touring system. Also, the Borla sport and the FRPP Borla sport have a different tone.

Thanks. Are the same sport mufflers used on both Borla and Ford Racing systems? Borla uses S-type designation on the Borla Sport systems.

No. The mufflers are different. I've actually had both systems on my car. I had the Borla Sport (s type) before I switched to the quad tipped gt350 valance with the ford racing borla sport. The tone was noticeably different between the two.

I'd say the Borla sounded deeper and louder at lower RPMs... whereas the FRPP is a little quieter at low RPM, slightly raspier, and louder at high RPMs. Of course, it's hard to make that comparison, especially since I was listening to a broken in muffler vs a new muffler (new mufflers are louder until they get some carbon build up).

With headers FRPP is insane rasp. Switched just to Borla mufflers and much better.

To add to this, my understanding is that Ford Racing designed the FRPP exhausts, they just outsource the production to Borla.
