Ford Reveals Two Special Edition Mustangs; Ford Mustang Black Shadow Edition and Ford Mustang Blue Edition

• New Ford Mustang Black Shadow Edition and Ford Mustang Blue Edition models deliver unique styling and premium specification for customers in Europe
• Brooding Mustang Black Shadow delivers unique black alloy wheels and detailing. Dynamic Mustang Blue Edition channels spirit of classic Mustangs with Grabber Blue body colour
• Both models offer high specifications including SYNC 3 connectivity, heated and cooled seats, premium audio and premium leather interior

COLOGNE, Germany, Nov. 29, 2016 – Ford today unveiled two special edition Ford Mustang models with unique styling and premium specification for customers in Europe.

The new Ford Mustang Black Shadow Edition offers special black 19-inch alloys wheels and unique black body details.

The distinctive Ford Mustang Blue Edition model channels the spirit of classic Ford Mustang models that featured eye-catching “Grabber” colours, offering a Grabber Blue body with sporty body stripes.

Both models are available in fastback bodystyle and offer a high-specification that includes heated and cooled seats, Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system with navigation, and a premium audio system.

“The Ford Mustang has no trouble standing out on European roads, and with the new Ford Mustang Black Shadow Edition and Blue Edition models, Mustang drivers will be turning even more heads,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “Special edition Ford Mustangs have been an important part of the Mustang story for more than 50 years, and now customers in Europe can play their own part in the iconic car’s rich special edition history.”

Mustang Black Shadow Edition
The Ford Mustang Black Shadow Edition will be available to order with Ford’s 421 PS 5.0-litre V8 engine and six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission from January 2017.

Offered in four body colour options – Platinum White, Triple Yellow, Race Red and Grabber Blue – the Ford Mustang Black Shadow Edition features unique bodystyling that includes a black Pony emblem for the GT grille; exclusive black 19-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels; dissolve-effect black stripes along the prominent bonnet bulge ridges and across the body-side between the lower wheel arches; and black 5.0-litre badges on the front wings.

The high specification limited edition model delivers parking sensors, heated and cooled front seats, a premium ShakerPro audio system with 12-speakers and a powerful 8-inch boot-mounted subwoofer, and a premium black leather interior with prominent instrument panel stitching and matching door inserts.*

Mustang Blue Edition
Ford’s distinctive Grabber colours – named for their ability to grab attention – were first introduced for the 1969 Shelby GT350 and GT500 models.

Since then Ford has periodically offered the Mustang in more than 20 different Grabber colours including Grabber Orange, Grabber Yellow and Grabber Lime – with Grabber-coloured models historically becoming of special interest to collectors.

The new Ford Mustang Blue Edition is available to order now with either Ford’s 421 PS 5.0-litre V8 or the more fuel-efficient 317 PS 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine and six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, and delivers the eye-catching Grabber Blue exterior body colour enhanced with central dissolve-effect black bonnet and roof stripes, and black 19-inch multi-spoke alloys wheels.

Both new special edition models feature Ford’s SYNC 3 system with 8-inch touchscreen, that enables drivers to locate nearby cafés, petrol stations or car parks, and find train stations, airports, and hotels simply by pushing a button and saying “I need a coffee,” “I need petrol,” and “I need to park.”

Mustang in Europe
The Ford Mustang 5.0-litre V8 fastback manual model reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in 4.8 seconds, and the 2.3-litre EcoBoost fastback manual reaches the marker in 5.8 seconds.

Almost 23,000 Ford Mustangs have been sold and ordered in Europe since the iconic sports car’s launch in summer of 2015; around two thirds of those have been fastback models. Red, grey and black are the most popular Mustang colours in Europe and 64 per cent of customers select the V8 engine. EcoBoost models are most popular in southern Europe.

Among the Mustang’s biggest fans is self-confessed “Mustang nut” Adelbert Engler from Belgium, who has amassed a collection of 5,500 Mustang model cars, as well as several full‐sized classic models.

At 97 years old, Lennart Ribring from Sweden is among Europe’s oldest Mustang fans. Ribring was one of the first customers in his native Sweden to buy an original 1960’s Mustang, and is now the proud owner of a new 5.0-litre V8 Ford Mustang fastback.

=====================================================================================

Looks like Ford is preparing two special edition Mustang´s just for the European market:

Black Shadow: only available as an add on to the GT, it will have exclusive 19 -inch Y spoke black wheels (I will say that the wheels are just the 50YEARS anniversary wheels but painted black), black pony emblem on the grille and black 5.0 badges, alongside black stripes on sides and hood. Just available in Platinum White, Triple Yellow, Race Red and Grabber Blue.

Blue edition: if my understanding is correct, is just Grabber Blue with OEM stripes (maybe slimmer stripes??)….but it can be associate also with the EcoBoost as well as the GT.

Dread to think how overcharged this 'pack' will be for us lot... Money better spent elsewhere for better stuff in the aftermarket world!

It's crazy how all OEM's have to come out with the equivalent of a sticker pack at target to make their cars "special". For me I would never notice this car being any different. Too minor of an upgrade or edition. The only thing I ever take notice of is a PP car vs a Non and a Premium car vs a Non. Otherwise most packages like this are crap.

Yea. This is like all those nonsense Jeep trim packages. Altitude, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Tomb Raider, Black Dragon, Mountain, Freedom, Polar, Tony Stark Edition, Young Darth Vader Edition, Old Darth Vader Edition, Disney Darth Vader Edition.

Did you catch the asterisk? Some of the interior upgrades aren't even included in the UK or anywhere else that gets a RHD car.

Ford is milking the cash cow (european buying market) for all it's worth. Ford knows the Mustang is so popular and Ford expects potential customers are going to buy it like hotcakes. :ford:

Feels very Harley-Davidson - call it a black edition by painting some stuff and adding stickers and you have a "special edition". Meh... sorry.

Hah! Thew stripes from the Black Shadow Edition are the same stripes as on the GT/CS!
Indeed they are!

I can just imagine how it went:

Inside an old, creepy, warehouse somewhere in Dearborn

Guy#1: Hey, what are those dusty boxes?
Guy#2: Oh these are the 50th anniversary rims, California special stripes and so on.
Guy#1: We have no use for these anymore and we need space. Call the trash company and ask them to carry out all these stuff.
Guy#2: Ok.. hey wait a moment: what about using these to build a ""special edition""?
Guy#1: What?! People is not stupid here, no one would want to buy a mustang made from waste..
Guy#2: You're right, damn. HEY I HAVE AN IDEA!! Why not send these to some foreign market?? They never had Mustangs, so they won't bother about that and we made more money!

Some of the "fast" cars offered up in the 1970's and 80's were little more than stickers, scoops, really gimmicky add-ons to the base model. Really pathetic stuff. At least any of these are still gonna be a hoot to drive. :ford:
