Why didn't our cars come from the factory with Flex Fuel capabilities?

If it's as easy as a tuning tweak from LUND and others, then why not come from the factory ready to accept the corn??

It seems like it would be easy to do, but I've seen first hand what ethanol can do to a boat so I'm super hesitant to pump that much ethanol through my Mustang without injectors etc. It is super interesting though, I've been following the threads, just not sure how great it will be for us in the long run.

I have the same reservations and often experience the bad effects of ethanol on my carbed toys. I read the Coyote will do just fine though.

Went to a dealer with a friend to get his 14 looked at and saw a f150 5.0 that had flex fuel all over it. So what's the difference in the fuel systems?

Yeah, I realize the technology is far superior in my GT compared to my 04 center console, but it still scares the crap out of me to pump e85 into my brand new car haha. I'll probably give it a year or two before jumping on the flex fuel tune.

I retired and then went to work for an oil company. I would not use E85 in anything. The quality of the fuel is not consistent and does not have to meet the same spec's as E10.

That's scary. I have a hard enough time putting anything but Top Tier fuel in my car to begin with.

Myself and a dozen + friends have run E85 in the coyote for three years without a single issue.
