I have had a few people tell me that running E85 warrants changing your oil at a much higher frequency such as every 2k miles vs. 5k on 93.

What are you all people doing that run e85?

If all you do is short trip/short duration where the oil does get up to temp long, I could see every 2,000 miles.

What about if you routinely drive 2 50 mile trips a day, like 4 or 5 days a week?

I do 5K. Also, Ford recommends to run one tank of 91 (or 93) every oil change if you only use E85.

Thanks!! I forgot about Unleashedbeast over at SVTP.

I am going to send a sample to blackstone so I can get real world info, too.

One time testing won't tell you much. It is the trend that develops over time and any deviation that will help you.

Correct. That's the plan. Get my baseline and keep sending in samples based on the previous results.

Torco makes a oil especially for E85 because the Ethonal breaks down the oil quicker than gasoline. You can change that oil every 5000 miles any other oil better change it much sooner.

seems to be a lot of misinformation in this thread.

E85 holds moisture, like all alcohol, more so than gasoline (where it would normally separate). The result is a fuel high in moisture that when it combusts, could have some residual moisture mixing with the oil causing a "milky" substance. The oil and moisture do not separate due to the environment and hence this carmel colored milky substance is born.

I did see someone mention "short" trips where the oil does not get up to operating temperature. This is more-so the culprit than long trips.

Depending on the use of the vehicle, 2500-3k miles should be fine. I always stayed closer to the 2500 mark.

Oh and if you dont believe me, install an AOS with clear tubing and see if you still think i'm crazy.

2500 miles for full synthetic? That is crazy if so.
