I just ordered from American Muscle, a 389662 - Mishimoto Aluminum Coolant Expansion Tank - Black (15-16 GT, EcoBoost, V6) to replace the stock one in my 2015 GT. Then it dawned on me.. Does the stock plastic unit have a sensor to detect level in the bottle?? I did not see one on the Mishimoto "direct replacement".

Thank you !

No sensor in the milk jug tank. You will love the black Mishimoto. I put one in my GT a couple of months ago and the install is pretty straight forward. Watch the installation video on AM or LMR and you are set.

Thank you. The Mustang "Specialist" I spoke with at AM said there was a level sensor in the recovery bottle, but darned if I could find one...

Oh... Did you need to bleed the coolant system when you made the swap? If so, where is the bleeder screw on the '15 GT? Thanks

BUMP

Can anyone who installed this recovery tank tell me if they needed to bleed the cooling system after the swap? Thanks

No you do not have to bleed the system after installing this.

Be aware of the downside of installing the Mishimoto coolant tank........ It "makes" you get their oil catch can and new radiator and causes you to wait impatiently for their yet to be released oil cooler and hose kits.....Maybe it's just me...

He was talking about the "sight glass" on the side of the tank which shows you the coolant level in the tank.

Please tell me you're kidding. Does the coolant tank block these items? I'll send mine back to AM. From the install video, it looked like everything fit and worked and the glass was visible....

He is joking and saying it will make you want other engine bay upgrade parts to clean up the look more.

I see a lot of people swapping out their coolant bottles. Whats the point?
No real benefit to performance or drivability, it just looks a hell of a lot better than the stock "grenade". Installed the black Mishimoto tank a year ago and the engine bay looks so much better. Also a relatively easy install. Just follow the videos on CJ Pony Parts or LMR.
