"Charging System Service Now"

Anyone else gotten this warning? Obviously it's battery/alternator/etc. related but is there anything in particular I should have checked for this generation Mustang or GT350 specifically? FWIW I've got 11.6 volts in accessory mode. Wouldn't think I should have a dead battery or alternator at 24k miles.

Alternator or circuit that controls smart charging is not working.
Don't wait till the battery is dead because its pretty close to dead.
