Wow. I have to say - I have a new found appreciation for this site and the people on it.
I recently joined another site (whose name I will withhold...for now ), and the people on that site are relentless!
I posted pictures of a car that I'm have restored; and at first, the response was positive...until I got past the disassembly pictures and started to show the body work, etc. HOLY SMOKES! Some guy (who I find out has his own restoration shop and has been restoring cars since the early 90s) just starts taking wide open shots based on the pictures. Good Lord!
To me, there are many great things about being part of a forum:
- Shared interest/passion
- To learn
- Gain ideas
- Meet other people...some of whom have become VERY dear friends
- Etc.
I CERTAINLY don't join forums to:
- Tell someone their car is "wrong"
- To wizz on their parade
- Try to build myself up at someone else's expense
- Etc.
I've seen many threads that turned sour on this site, but usually its personality stuff - not, "Hey, your car is effed up!" ;)
In any case, if this forum is representative of a new generation of car enthusiast, well them, dang it, I'm proud to be a part!!! ...cue the National Anthem :ford:
P.S. Their website functionality SUCKS compared to ours
P.P.S. Yeah, I said "Ours"
P.P.P.S. No, I'm not bitter...much
